Overview on Trademark Class Finder

In general, the trademark application is made as per the NICE classification under the 45 different classes for trademark. Each of the trademark class signifies a separate set of goods and services. While filing your trademark application, the trademark class of goods and services that the trademark connects must be mentioned in the application itself. Any wrong classification of the trademark could obstruct the trademark registration process and/or diminish the legal protection for the mark; therefore, it is important to choose the right class of trademark while applying the Trademark Act.

If the business's activity involves various goods or services falling under different trademark classifications, then the trademark application can also be filed in more than one class. It means that another entity can file a trademark application for the same mark under a different class even if a registered trademark exists under 1 class. Therefore, filing of trademark application under one class does not provide complete exclusiveness over the mark's use. Trademark only provides exclusiveness for using the mark concerning the class of goods or services for which the trademark is registered, only.

Count the CorpBiz trademark class finder tool to find the correct trademark class for your goods or service from over 80,000 goods and services.

  • A finished product may be classified in all classes, which is known as a multipurpose object that corresponds to its functions.
  • An unworked or semi-worked, and raw material gets classified according to the material they involve.
  • The Goods proposed to form part of another product are, in principle, classified in the same class of list as that product only in cases where the same type of goods cannot generally be used for another purpose.
