An Overview on Plastic Waste Authorization

Disposal of Plastic has been becoming the bottleneck in India, with the rapidly increasing production of disposable Plastic in India exceeding the ability to deal with them. Plastic pollution is the most eye-catching in developing countries like India, where the garbage collection apparatus is inefficient. Plastic waste has become very omnipresent nowadays and needs prompt action to deal with this problem.

Legislation concerning the Plastic waste

As per to the Plastic waste management rules 2016, the minister of environment, forest, and climate change remarked on the minimum thickness of plastic carrying bags, which has been increased from 40 microns to 50 microns. As per him, 15,000 tonnes of plastic waste are generated every day, and out of which 9,000 tonnes are collected and processed further; the government has notified the Plastic waste management amendment rules in 2021, which prohibited then complete single use plastic items by 2022.

Who can register under Plastic waste license?

So any individual can register for the Plastic waste recycling plant in India.

Plastic waste Recycling Plant

Plastic recycling is the method of converting Plastic waste into valuable products. This activity helps conserve resources and protect the environment from plastic pollution. Plastic waste recycles plants having the machines and equipment, and space to store the plastic scrap within the premises. It consists of the pollution control equipment to control the pollution.

Why it is necessary to recycle Plastic?

Today, the whole world is witnessing the draconian impact of plastic pollution, which rapidly causes the degradation of the environment. Pollution due to Plastic does not cause harm only on land but in water bodies also. Many aquatic animals die due to the consumption of Plastic. Thus, the recycling of Plastic plays a very significant role that benefits the environment.

To set up the Plastic waste plant, one should match with the given below requirements:

  • One should need a separate place to open a Plastic waste plant. And in the premises, one should keep all the plastic waste aside from the equipments.
  • A small room needed similar to a factory.
  • The equipment needed for recycling the Plastic waste.
  • You need a network with plastic waste suppliers who can supply plastic waste to you.

Documents required for Plastic waste

For setting up a recycling plant, you will be required some licenses:

  • G.S.T. Registration
  • Authorization from SPCB
  • Registration under P.W.M.

Documents Required for the Registration:

  • Authorized Signatory Aadhaar Card
  • Authorized Signatory P.A.N. Card
  • Water Bill
  • Rent Agreement/ Property Paper

Recycling Process of Plastic Waste:

  • Collection and distribution- The first step is the collection of old and discarded plastic materials from homes and companies. Government organizations or private companies can do this process. Also, plastic waste can be collected from public dustbins.
  • Sorting and categorizing- The next step is sorting and categorizing; in sorting, the separation of plastics can be done since there are a variety of plastics by the recyclers. The machines in recycling plants can do this process.
  • Washing- Washing is the most essential step in the whole plastic recycling procedure. Impurities such as product labels and adhesives and dirt and food residue are typically targeted in this stage. While Plastic is frequently washed at this step, it is vital to note that it is still necessary to ensure that plastics are as clean as possible before disposal and collection.
  • Shredding-. After that, the Plastic is transferred into shredders, which shred it into considerably smaller pieces. Unlike formed plastic items, these smaller bits can be processed for reuse in later phases. The resized plastic fragments can also be usable in various applications without further processing, such as an asphalt additive or simply sold as a raw material. Breaking the Plastic into smaller pieces also makes it easier to find any leftover contaminants. This is especially true of pollutants like metal, which may not have been eliminated by washing but may now be easily collected with a magnet.
  • Plastics identification and separation- The class and quality of the plastic parts are assessed here. They are first separated based on density, which is determined by floating plastic particles in a water container. Following that, a test for "air classification," which assesses the thickness of the plastic fragments, is performed. The shredded plastic is placed in a wind tunnel, with thinner components floating and more significant/thicker portions remaining at the bottom.
  • Compounding and extrusion- The shredded plastic particles are turned into a viable product for manufacturers in this final plastic recycling process. To make pellets, the shredded Plastic is melted and mashed together. Because it is not always possible to compound all types, classifications, and quality of Plastic at a single facility, various grades of Plastic are frequently shipped to other recycling facilities for this last stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

The initiative's goal is to find environmentally appropriate ways to dispose of plastic garbage. It hopes to eliminate the use of plastic bags and other plastic products in the process, as well as reduce plastic littering across the state.

Plastic garbage is often responsibly disposed of and sent to facilities to be sorted, recycled, or recovered, particularly in more industrialized countries. Plastic garbage generated in underdeveloped countries, on the other hand, is frequently dumped in open, uncontrolled dumpsites or tossed into rivers and streams.
