Filing of Application

Filing of Application

The application process required to apply for TEC registration in India requires to be either filed/ submitted online or offline, along with all the relevant documents that cannot be changed once submitted.

Scrutiny & Evaluation of Documents

The TEC is further required to conduct a thorough evaluation or scrutiny of the documents submitted. If any error is found in the document, the same must be immediately communicated to the applicants for further rectification.

Submission of Variant Details

Furthermore, the applicants are required to submit variant details and all other information required and available regarding the product model, like the BoM, datasheet of equipment, etc. Moreover, the applicants are required to make a submission of the location details of the telecom/ ICT equipment.

Payment of Required Fees

Next, the applicant must pay the fees required for the certification scheme, declared after the due submission of the application for TEC certification.

Selection & Evaluation in Conformity Assessment Body

Moreover, the applicant is empowered to select the conformity assessment body (CAB) from the list of CABs provided by TEC. Moreover, the telecom equipment after being tested in a recognized Cab of an MRA Partner country, must submit an accurate summary of the test report.

Grant of TEC Registration Certificate

After the evaluation of the test reports duly submitted, the TEC registration certificate is granted.

The testing of the product is to be conducted in accordance with the Essential Requirements (ER) by an Indian Recognised Laboratory, which is to be assigned by the TEC. The TEC Certificate is to be issued by the Telecommunication Engineering Centre in accordance with the results of the test reports.

The TEC has been authorised for four various approvals-

  • Certification of Approval
  • Technology Approval

The issuance of the TEC Certification procedure can take up to 30 days from the date of application. This duration also varies based on the category of the product, the requirement of tests, etc.

TEC registration guarantees the quality and safety of products and enables maintaining the quality standards, safety requirements and performance criteria of telecom equipment in India.

The TEC Certificate Number is a unique Identification Number obtained immediately after the completion of the certification process.

The activities or scope of Tec certification includes field evaluation of products and systems, national fundamental plans, support to DoT on technology issues, and testing & certification of telecom products.

The primary purpose of issuing TEC certification is to develop and implement various policies and standards, ensuring the utilisation of new emerging and constantly changing technologies with the maintenance of safety and security.
