What are the Different Types of FSSAI Challan Payment?
The FSSAI registration depends on the business size, volume and nature of the business. The specific registration is divided into three heads and depending on the turnover and installed capacity or the location. The applicant is eligible for obtaining the licenses. The three licenses depending upon the registration is given below:
- Basic FSSAI Registration– This is for petty food business whose annual turnover is less than 12 lakhs. This includes Food Business Operator who is small sized manufacturers, transporters, marketers, distributors and retailers.
- State FSSAI registration – This is for medium food business whose annual turnover is more than 12 lakhs but less than 20 crores and includes manufacturing units with upto 2 MT of capacity, 3 star hotels[1], club canteens, catering businesses, dairy units with handling business upto 50000 litres each day, etc.
- Central FSSAI Registration – This is for large food business whose annual turnover of the food business is more than 20 crores. Moreover, this license will be required where the Food Business Operator is operating in more than one state.

Steps for FSSAI Registration and FSSAI Challan Payment Online
- The Food business operators can visit the homepage of the FSSAI Licensing and Registration portal and shall apply for License/Registration option. After that, the page will direct them to the FSSAI Challan Payment Online where he will have to click on the ‘Pay via treasury Challan’ link.
- Then the food dealer will have to add Challan details.
- The Food Business Operator will have to submit registration fee of Rs. 100/- which is also the FSSAI Challan payment for one year with the Registration Authority.
- After registering, the food service operators will fill up the application form in Form ‘A’ with the FSSAI Challan payment of Rs. 100/-
- After the submission of form the applicant shall obtain a 14 digit reference Unique Application Number.
- Within 7 days of form submission, Registering Authority (RA) shall on the basis of their verification and observation issue the registration certificate or may also reject the application.
- After receiving a certificate of approval from the Registering Authority, the Food business operator may start the business.
- It is the discretion of the Registering Authority that he may give an order within 7 days if he deems fit that a notice must be issued to the Food business operator for examination.
- When the Registering Authority is done with the inspection, then 30 days after that the Food Business Operator can start his food business.
The Documents Required for Registration under FSSAI
Few of the documents that are required mandatorily for obtaining the FSSAI license:-
- Application Form that is duly filled and signed
- List of directors and members with contact details and Passport-size photos
- Identity proof of all the applicants (Food Business Operator)
- Proof of possession of the premises or evidence of property ownership
- Business Address Proof
- The detailed food safety management system plan
- List of food items to be manufactured and used
- No Objection Certificate and License copy from the manufacture
- Certificate of incorporation
- No Objection Certificate from the municipality
