Overview of BIS Registration in Delhi

Bureau of Indian Standards, commonly known as BIS, is a National Standard Body of India that harmoniously develop activities of standardisation, marking and quality registration of the products. BIS is constituted under the BIS Act 2016. The Government notifies many products of India that require BIS Registration and to be marked with BIS Standard Safety mark before their manufacture or import and sell in markets of India.

The BIS office grants this BIS Registration in Delhi after successfully testing products as per the Indian Standard and submitting necessary documents.

BIS involves the following activities for the interest of consumers:

  • Compulsory Registration Scheme
  • Standard Formulation
  • Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme
  • Product Certification Scheme
  • Hall Marking Scheme
  • Sale of Indian Standards
  • Laboratory Services
  • Laboratory Recognition Scheme
  • Consumer Affairs Activities
  • Information Services
  • Promotional Activities
  • Training Services, National and International Level

The Government of India has mandatorily asked to consider public health for specific products. BIS Registration aims to build customers' confidence and trust in products, provide quality assurance, safeguard customers from dangerous products and protect public health.

Objectives of BIS Registration in Delhi

  • Continual and harmonious development of standardisation, quality certification and marking.
  • Effortless development of a national strategy for standards recognition and syncing them with developing products and exports.
  • Ensuring a new thrust to quality control and standardisation.

Benefits of BIS Registration in Delhi

Following are the benefits of getting BIS Registration:

  • Ensure Quality Standards

BIS has a holistic approach to implementing quality compliances for all the applicant manufacturers. All the registered manufacturers must follow a certain standard for manufacturing their goods. BIS scrutinises and investigates the products and the manufacturing unit's premises.

  • Impact Authenticity on Product

Products without BIS Registration cannot garner customers' credibility or trust. Unregistered products are vulnerable to poor performance and may carry potential health risks. However, BIS-registered products deliver high-quality performance and unparalleled reliability.

  • Minimising Environmental Risk

BIS Registration covers so many products, and few of them are dangerous to the environment. Certain products have severe environmental risks and health hazards. BIS is continuously taking several measures in the direction of eliminating environmental risks. It has also implemented specific protocols for such elimination.

  • Lab testing for Quality Inspection

BIS works on quality standardisation; it has established labs in different parts of India. These labs are constructed to test different products for quality.

During any inspection of manufacturing units, the inspecting officers randomly pick up any sample and send it for lab tests.
