On 1st July 2020, Union MSME Ministry came up with a web-based platform, viz Udyam Registration Portal. Up till now, about 11 lakh MSME owner has successfully registered on this portal on the self-declaration basis. The Udyam Registration Portal was part of the Prime Minister’s relief package released amid the Covid 19 pandemic. This portal leverages the paperless concept and works as a complete solution for the business owners from the registration or renewal viewpoint. What is the registration process for the newly established entity?
New entrepreneurs seeking new registration can follow the given instructions:
Step 1: Visit – https://udyamregistration.gov.in/UdyamRegistration.aspx to reach out Udyam Registration portal
Step 2: A new window shall appear on your display highlighting the Aadhaar Number dialog box. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar Number in the vacant field.
Step 3: Provide your Name as cited on the Aadhaar Card
Step 4: Go through the instructions on the screen & agree to the declaration statement.
Step 5: Next, enter the option called ‘Validate and Generate OTP’
Step 6: The portal will send the One Time Password, i.e. OTP, on your registered contact number for verification.
Step 7: Enter the One Time Password & hit the ‘Validate’ button
Step 8: Once the portal is done with the verification, perform the given undertaking as mentioned below;
- Enter the business structure’s type
- Enter he PAN Number.
- Accept the declaration & proceed by clicking on the ‘Validate’ button
- Provide the ITR & GSTIN detail as applicable.
Step 10: In case of non-availability of a valid PAN Card, you can provide your Name under the ‘Name of the Entrepreneur’ option.
Step 11: Next, enter the email id and contact number in the vacant field.
Step 12: Next, provide basic details such as social category, gender, & enterprise name.
Step 13: Enter the Plant’s location, followed by the company’s official address.
Step 15: Next, enter the following detail
- Erstwhile EM-II/UAM registration number,
- Enterprise’s status,
- Banking details,
- Core business activities,
- National Industrial Classification (NIC) Code related to Activities,
- Detail about employees.
Step 16: Provide the detail of expenditure incurred for setting up the plant and machinery, including other imperative information cited on display.
Step 17: Next, agree to the declaration and click the ‘Submit and Get final OTP.’ option.
Step 18: Provide the OTP to complete the registration process
How to check MSME Registration Status?
Step 1: Visit the Udyam Registration portal
Step 2: Provide your Udyam Registration Number along with the registered contact number.
Step 3: Opt for the suitable ‘OTP’ option.
Step 4: Finally, hit the Validate and Generate OTP button. Now within few seconds, the portal will display the MSME registration status.

How to migrate to Udyam registration?
The following steps can be used for the re-register for Udyam Registration.
Step 1: Head to the online Udyam Registration portal by entering the following URL on the address bar of your web browser. https://udyamregistration.gov.in/Government-of-India/Ministry-of-MSME/online-registration.html
Step 2: Choose the option, viz ‘You can migrate to Udyam (Re-Register) here.’
Step 3: The new window shall open where you need to enter UdyogAadhaar Number and select the appropriate OTP option.
Step 4: Hit the ‘Validate and Generate OTP’ tab
Step 5: Enter the OTP for the verification of your UdyogAadhaar Number
How to alter the detail UdyogAadhar?

Step 1: Firstly, hop on to the Udyam Registration portal by using the following URL. https://udyamregistration.gov.in/UdyamRegistration.aspx
Step 2: To update the detail, click the alternative called “Update details.”
Step 3: You will stumble upon two options. All you need to select the ‘UdyogAadhar Update’ option.
Step 4: On the new window, provide the valid UAM number.
Step5: Opt for one of the suitable alternatives from the following;
- OTP as on Mobile number
- OTP as on email address
Step 6: Enter the Captcha code for verification.
Step 7: Next, hit the ‘Validate & generate OTP.’ Option to proceed further.

How to get MSME Certificate on the system from the UAM portal?
The steps given below shall let you get the UdyogAadhar certificate on your system from the UAM portal.
Step 1: Head to the web-based portal of the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise via the given link https://udyamregistration.gov.in/Government-of-India/Ministry-of-MSME/online-registration.htm
Step 2: On the home window, hit the ‘Print’ option
Step 3: You will be landed on the new page for downloading purpose
Step 4: Enter the valid UAM number to proceed further.
Step 5: Provide your contact number as per UdyogAadhaar and hit the “Submit” tab.
Step 6: Now, you will get the One Time Password on your registered contact number.
Step 7: Enter the OTP accordingly on the screen.
Step 8: Get the PDF version of the Udyog Aadhaar certification on your system.
