The Food Standards & Safety Authority of India (FSSAI) compels entities earning between Rs.12 lakhs to 20 crores of yearly turnover to avail the state FSSAI license. Food business operators i.e. FBOs like Transporters, medium-sized manufacturers, Restaurants Marketers, storage units, Retailers, distributors, etc should mandatorily obtain this license. Again, apart from manufacturers and distributors, the FSSAI state license is also compulsory for food marketing companies and packagers.

Documents to be arranged for State FSSAI License

  • Rental Agreement pertaining to the Business Premises.
  • ID Proof related torelevant person (Aadhaar Card / DL / Passport / Voter ID)
  • If any Government Registration (Incorporation Certificate / company Registration / Partnership Deed / Pan card / Trade License/ Shop & establishment license)
  • If the applicant is a registered privately-held firm  or partnership company then they mustfurnish MOA & AOA or Partnership deed copy
  • For State license any one of the given certificates is mandatory (Shop & establishment license, Corporation license, trade license, municipality license, and panchayath license.
  • Nature of Business.
  • FSSAI declaration form

Central FSSAI Registration for Food marketing company

The Central FSSAI license is for the bigger establishments whose yearly turnover is well above Rs 20 crores. Therefore, it is a mandate for businesses including food marketing companies generating turnover above this said limit needs to obtain a central FSSAI license.

Types of Documents required for FSSAI Central License

  • Rental Agreement pertaining to the Business Premises.
  • ID Proof related to relevant person (Aadhaar Card / DL / Passport / Voter ID)
  • If any Government Registration (Incorporation Certificate / company Registration / Partnership Deed / Pan card / Trade License/ Shop & establishment license)
  • If the applicant is a registered privately-held firm  or partnership company then they must furnish MOA & AOA or Partnership deed copy
  • IE Code ( aka Import Export Code).
  • Declaration from the concerned individual proofing his authenticity for application filing.
  • List of food categoriesinvolved in the business.

Following documents will be needed in case the applicant for a manufacturing category

  • Manufacturing unit photos
  • Plant Schematics.
  • Machinery details in your company letterhead (Capacity & Horse Power details)
  • The applicant from the mineral water processing unit needs to submit it water test report
