The local confectionery shops are required to show the best before & manufacturing date on loose confectionery products or non-packaged products that are kept in a container or tray for sale at their respective outlets or shops. The food safety and standards authority of India mentioned to as FSSAI[1] on February 24, 2020, allotted an order 1 guiding all food business operators of non-packaged or loose sweets to display or exhibit the labels comprising ‘date of manufacturing’ and ‘best before date,’ effective from June 01, 2020. The names mentioned above have to be as per the food safety and standards (packaging and labeling) regulations 2011.
