On 18th January 2023, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution issued a notification in regard to the declaration of mandatory information on the outer retail package.
The Ministry has notified that it is necessary to declare that the following mandatory information on the packages meant for retail sale, in the interest of consumers –
- Name and address of the manufacturer/packer/importer
- Country of origin for imported products
- Common or generic name of the commodity contained in the package
- Net quantity, in terms of standard unit of weight or measure or number
