On 03rd April 2023, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued a notification in regard to the request for Action against the unauthorised use of artificial fruit ripening agents.
The notification states that due to the violation of the Standard Operating Procedure, which specifically restricts the direct contact of the ethylene powder/liquid with the fruits. A special drive will be undertaken for awareness-building among the FBOs about the usage of ethylene gas as a ripening agent in an approved manner only.
