On 11th April 2023, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued a Direction under Section 16(5) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 in Regard to the Re-Operationalisation of the Draft Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations with respect to the standards of Fortified Rice Kernel.
Through the exercise of powers as conferred under Section 92 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, FSSAI had framed the Draft Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations with reference to the standards of Fortified Rice Kernel and the same were draft notified in the Gazette of India on 25th May 2022.
