Documents Needed for IEC Certification

One has to arrange the following list of documents to avail of the Import Export Code from DGFT. 

Document required by Sole Proprietorship Firm

Sole Proprietorship Firm is required to arrange the following list of documents:-

  • (3*3) Digital Photographs of the owner of the business (Sole Proprietor);
  • PAN Card of the Sole Proprietor
  • A copy of the Sole Proprietor’s Driving License, UID, Voter ID, and Passport. 
  • A photocopy of the Sale deed in case of Self-owned business and rent deed in case of rented business. 

Document Required by Partnership Firm

Partnership Firm is required to arrange the following list of documents, those are as follows:-

  • (3*3) Digital Photographs of the managing directors);
  • PAN Card of the managing directors
  • A copy of the Managing Director’s Driving License, UID, Voter ID, and Passport. 
  • A photocopy of the Sale deed in case of Self-owned business and rent deed in case of rented business. 
  • Bank Certificate or canceled cheque as prescribed in the form ANF 2A. The cheque must enclose the account number & the name of the applicant entity. 

Document required by Limited Liability Partnership

Limited Liability Partnership is required to arrange the following list of documents, those are as follows:-

  • (3*3) Photograph of the proposed Partner;
  • A copy of LLP Agreement;
  • PAN Card information of the proposed Partner;
  • A photocopy of the proposed Partner’s Driving license, Voter ID, UID, and Passport. 
  • A photocopy of the Sale deed in case of Self-owned business and rent deed in case of rented business. 
  • Bank Certificate or canceled cheque as prescribed in the form ANF 2A. The cheque must enclose the account number & the name of the applicant entity.

Document required by the Private Limited Company

Private Limited Company is supposed to arrange the following list of document for IEC certification, those are as follows:-

  • Digital Photographs of the Managing Director of the firm. 
  • PAN Card details of the Managing Director. 
  • A copy of the Director’s Passport, Driving License, UID, and Voter ID.
  • A photocopy of the Sale deed in case of Self-owned business and rent deed in case of rented business. 
  • Bank Certificate or canceled cheque as prescribed in the form ANF 2A. The cheque must enclose the account number & the name of the applicant entity.

Document required by the Trust

Entities working as a trust require arranging the following documentations:- 

  • (3*3) Digital Photograph of the managing trustee or chief executive
  • Registration certification of trust
  • A photocopy of the trust deed
  • A copy of the signatory’s Passport, Driving License, UID, and Voter ID
  • A photocopy of the Sale deed in case of Self-owned business and rent deed in case of rented business. 
  • Bank Certificate or canceled cheque as prescribed in the form ANF 2A. The cheque must enclose the account number & the name of the applicant entity.

Document Required by HUF (Hindu Undivided Family)

HUF (Hindu Undivided Family) is required to arrange the given documents for obtaining the IEC registration. 

  • (3*3) Digital Photograph of the Karta along with the PAN card details. 
  • A copy of Karta’s Passport, Driving License, UID, and Voter ID.
  • A photocopy of the Sale deed in case of Self-owned business and rent deed in case of rented business.
  • Bank Certificate or canceled cheque as prescribed in the form ANF 2A. The cheque must enclose the account number & the name of the applicant entity.

Steps needs to be followed to print the IEC Certification

Normally, after successfully submitting an online form, the applicant receives a copy of the IEC certificate on the registered email id. However, the applicant has the facility to avail of the print of the IEC certificate on the official portal. 

Procedure related to the printing of IEC certificate from the DGFT’s portal.

  • First open the official website of Directorate General of Foreign Trade.
  • On the home page, head over to the top-right section of the website and click “Login” option.
  • New windows shall prompt on your screen.
  • Enter your username and password to login to the website.
  • Go to the “Manage IEC” option and;
  • Tap on the “Print IEC Certification” option to get the print of IEC registration.

Import Export Code confers the exclusive right to its owner to avail trading at a global level. Technically, without IEC registration, it is not feasible to conduct a business of export or import in India.
