BEE Registration for Tubular Fluorescent Lamps – An Overview

A Tubular Fluorescent Lamp is a low-pressure mercury-vapour gas-discharge tube primarily used to produce visible light. An electric current in the gas excites mercury vapour, which produces short-wave UV light that causes a phosphor coating on the inside of the lamp to glow. This lamp simply converts electrical energy into light much more efficiently than an incandescent Lamp. BEE Registration for Tubular Fluorescent Lamps falls under Standards: IS 2418 Part 1 & Part 2, Schedule-2 and these lamps need to be certified under the BEE Mandatory Scheme with BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency). All the manufacturers of Tubular Fluorescent Lamps are required to get their products star rated from the BEE. Star rate on any product indicates how the product is energy efficient.

What Do You Mean By BEE Star Rating Certificate?

This Certificate is a vital document that indicates a Company’s level of BEE Compliance. A level-1 contributor is the highest achievable status & the lowest level of BEE compliance is level-8. The higher the BEE status level, the stronger a Company or entity is in relation to its competition.

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency sets the label & standards for marking the star-rating of various appliances. They also define the testing & certification procedure for all types of appliances. When manufacturers make a new model & they want to get their product certified, then they do the tests of their products as per the procedures prescribed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency[1] & apply for star certification with the data from the tests.
