What is the Procedure of IEC Code Registration
The complete procedure of application for IEC Registration and the steps associated for obtaining the IEC code is given below:-
Step 1: Go to DGFT Website
First log on to the DGFT[1] website, here there will be updates and latest notification on the screen.
Step 2: Then go to Services Tab
At the top menu there is a Navigation button bar named “Services”. There will be a drop-down menu that will provide with multiple services that is offered by DGFT that shall be placed, which also includes the “IEC” option. For application for IEC, Click on the IEC tab there and then the following tabs will be given in the display as is given below.

Step 3: Enter PAN Number
The applicant should enter his PAN number in the Text Box. In case of an Entity firm or Company- Enter the PAN Card Number of the Proprietor
Step 4: Enter Details Given on PAN Card
In this step, the applicant shall enter the essential details like the name, birth date and fill the Captcha Code. The name entered must be as has been maintained on the PAN Card. Next — Click on the submit button
Step 5: Verification Process: – Enter Mobile no. to get OTP
- The applicant shall enter Mobile number
- The applicant shall provide his Email ID
- The applicant shall enter the Captcha Code on the box and Click on the “Generate OTP” button
- The applicant shall receive an OTP numberon his mobile and email id both.
Step 6: Fill and Update Application Entity Details
The applicant shall be required to fill all the required application entity details.
Step 7: Add Branch Details
After filling and updating the application.The applicant shall enter the branch details. In this section a proprietorship or a company may be filled and after filling all the significant details click on “ADD”. If there is no Branch Office then the space shall be left empty.
Step 8: Fill Director/Partner Details
Now, the applicant shall fill all the details required of the Director or Proprietor or Partner or managing trustee.
Step 9: Upload Scanned Documents
Now the applicant needs to click on the step 4 for uploading the requisite documents.
Step 10: Fee Payment (Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking)
Here the amount of Rs. 500- shall be paid as the government fee of IEC application. Now the payment can be made by using any the Debit or Credit Card or by Wallets payment facility and Net Banking is also available. After successfully making the payment, then select “Verify Pay” to verify the payment.
Step 11: Preview & Print Application
After verifying fee payment, the applicant can preview and take print of the application for business or official purposes.
Step 12: Final Submission
In this step, all the above-mentioned number and details will be displayed. The DGFT Office will be automatically selected and displayed and then Click on proceed further to finally “Submit and Generate IEC Certificate”.
