BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme

The Bureau of Indian Standards[1] is also called the National Standard Body of India, which is responsible for providing certification according to Indian Standards. BIS governs the Compulsory Registration Scheme under Scheme II of Schedule II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulation,2018. The aim of the scheme is to help in growing the electronic and information technology industry in India. Apart from implementing this scheme, the BIS performs various other functions, such as.

  • CRS scheme in Scheme-II
  • Certificate of conformity -Scheme IV

Documents required to obtain BIS CRS Certification for Barcode Scanners

The manufacturer must first submit an application to obtain the BIS CRS Certification for Barcode Scanners.

The process that a foreign manufacturer is required to follow is as follows:

  • An AIR is appointed to carry out all the functions on the manufacturer’s behalf
