What Is The Procedure For WMI Code Registration?
A vehicle manufacturer must follow the following steps in order to obtain their WMI Code:
- The first step is to submit your application with the required documents to BIS.
- After this BIS official will verify your documents
- A WMI Code will be proposed as per the series and entry of the same in the BIS database; along with this, it will get registered with SAE International.
- The application will receive a confirmation letter and WMI code after registering with SAE International.
- At last, WMI Code will be issued to the applicant.
Guidelines for Filling up The Application Form
The application must include the company’s name, address, and the location of the manufacturing unit. A photocopy of the Certificate of Incorporation, as well as the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association/Partnership deed, if applicable, must be included. Self-attested copy of the Udyog Aadhar Memorandum (UAM) / certificate issued by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) allowing the firm to carry out the manufacturing of automobiles and specifying the name of the product to be attached.
