The Procedure of FSSAI License Renewal

The following steps need to be followed for FSSAI License Renewal;

Step1: Filling Form A /Form B

Form A or Form B is required to be filled, which is basically based on the eligibility of the Food Operator. Furthermore, these are the basic forms available for Food Business Operator, which they required to be filled along with the self-attested declaration that you are required to comply with the guidelines of the Food Safety and Standard Act. Also, a photo identity proof such as a driving license, Aadhar card, voter ID card, passport etc. is also required to be attached.

Step 2: Verification

After receiving your application, the authorities examine it, and they might also arrange for an inspection at your business premises in order to make sure that you have disclosed all the information and it is submitted correctly.

Step 3: Completion

Upon successful inspection of your business proceedings, if the concerning authority is satisfied, then they issue a license in your favour.

Steps 4: Getting the License

The license is then issued to you within sixty days. However, if it takes more than 60 days and if you have not received the license, then you can resume your business without waiting for any further notice. Food license renewal is a very easy process.

Documents Required for Basic Registration

Following documents are required to renew a basic FSSAI Registration;

  1. PAN Card
  2. Passport-sized photo of the applicant
  3. Identification proof (Aadhaar Card or Voter ID card)
  4. Address Proof- Telephone/ Mobile Bill, Electricity Bill or Gas Bill
  5. Copy of Property papers (if owned)
  6. Copy of Rent Agreement and No Objection Certificate from the Landlord

Documents Required for Central License/  State License

Following documents are required to renew a FSSAI State License;

  1. List of Partners, Directors, Proprietor or any Executive Members of Society with their complete address and contact details.
  2. Latest Passport sized Photograph of the Applicant
  3. Identification proof (Aadhaar Card or Voter ID card)
  4. PAN Card
  5. Address Proof- Telephone/ Mobile Bill, Electricity Bill or Gas Bill
  6. Copy of Property papers (in case of owned property)
  7. A copy of NOC and Rent Agreement from the Landlord (in case of rented property)
  8. Partnership Deed/ Memorandum Of Association/ Article of Association/ of the firm or Copy of Certificate obtained under the Co-Operative Act, 1861 in case of Co-Operatives
  9. NOC from the manufacturer, NOC from Municipality or local body
  10. An E-Code document issued by DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade)
  11. Form IX namely Nomination of Persons by a Company along with the Board Resolution

Penalty for not renewing the FSSAI Food License before its expiry

Every food business operator is liable for a penalty of Rs. 100 per day if s/he fails to renew the FSSAI License or registration within 30 days before the expiry of the food license. Furthermore, if the license or registration is not renewed within the specified time limit, then such license will be considered as expired. Additionally, the FBO would be obliged to either pause or stop his/ her business or obtain a new license if they wish to continue their food business. Thus, to obtain a new food license, the FBO would have to apply in a fresh application and follow the same procedure all over again.
