Delhi government will ask the aggregators like Ola, Uber, Swiggy Zomato to completely switch to Electrical vehicles to carry out their services. As the emissions from vehicles are considered to be the primary reason for the increase in air pollution in Delhi, the government believes that a move which compels aggregators to switch to EV is the way forward as they account for almost 30% of the total vehicular traffic in the state. The second move planned by the government is to monitor the vehicle ’ s PUCs, they will direct the petrol pumps to not provide fuel to vehicles who do not have a valid PUC certificate.
The Delhi Electric Vehicles Policy plans to promote EVs share in the market up to 25% out of the total vehicle sales by 2024. As of now the government has not planned to give any deadlines for the aggregators to comply with immediately. The transport department has said. “It will be done in a phased manner ” and the people will be informed once the guidelines are drafted.
