The Central Pollution Control Board has decided to repeal the withdrawal of the Interim policy of Rule 9 of the Hazardous and other waste Management Rules 2016 within 48 hours of Gujarat industries raising concern about the impact of the decision.
The Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI), through a letter to union minister of environment & forest Bhupendra Yadav, GCCI stated that withdrawal of the interim policy was discouraging for the industries as getting the approval of Standard operating procedure (SOP) for different categories of waste is a lengthy and time-consuming process that can take up to three years.
