CPCB issues notice to implement ban on single-use plastic from July 1

The central pollution control board CPCB has issued a notice through which it has asked producers, shopkeepers, street vendors and the general public to stop the production, stocking, sale and usage of Single-use plastic items. The board has stated that violators will be punished and booked under the environment protection act. The environment department of Delhi is planning a policy for the use of alternatives.

According to the notification released by the Ministry of environment forest and climate “single-use plastic items—plastic sticks used in balloons, lags, candy, ice-cream and earbuds, thermocol that is used used in sweet boxes, invitation cards, cigarette packets, stirrers and plastic banners less than 100 microns in thickness—are banned from July 1.”
