The Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act of 1974 established the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board for the Prevention & Control of Water Pollution on January 24, 1976. The Board's name was changed to Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board once the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981 went into effect. Initially, the Board was established to carry out the requirements of the Act. Water Pollution Prevention & Control Act of 1974. Following that, the Board was tasked with putting into action a series of recommendations, additional laws, and regulations governing the environment. The Board has been a catalyst in the implementation of environmental policies, legislation, and regulations and the development of frameworks. More effectively manage waste and natural resources. The Board, which has its headquarters in Vijayawada, is responsible for the entire state. On January 24, 1976, the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board for the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution was constituted under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act of 1974. When the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981 entered into effect, the board came with a new name i.e. Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board.
