• The Principal officer or security guard must not have any criminal record.
• The applicant should not have crossed 65 years and should be adequately trained to perform his job as a security guard.
• The applicant must hold a good career record and should not be barred from government services.
• The applicant should not have a link with a government-prohibited organisation.
• The candidate must possess a record of good physical health as per the PSARA Act.

Guidelines to be followed by private Security Agencies under PSARA

The Private Security Agencies Regulation Act 2005 has laid down some norms for all security companies active in Tripura. The following are some of the norms to be abided by security agencies.

• All private security agencies were obligated to train their security personnel with the skills prescribed in the PSARA.
• The role of security officer or supervisor preference shall be given to a person who spent three of their life in defence services.
• The appointment of the supervisor is a mandatory criterion as per the Act for these firms to oversee the working of security guards.
• Security agencies should follow the qualification, disqualifications, and criteria specified under the law. The firms must undertake activities under the PSARA Act. The firm should only follow the Act.
• The hired security guards are mandated to follow the prescribed code of conduct, including the dressing requisites under the PSARA.

Documents that are necessary to obtain a PSARA license in Tripura

• MOA and AOA (in the case of the private limited company/LLP)

• Police verification certification from the respective authority
• PAN and Addhaar card of Directors

Process involved in obtaining a PSARA license in Tripura

• The applicant shall submit a signed affidavit under Section 6 of the PSARA, 2005, to the controlling authority.
• The training of the security guards and supervisorsis ensured under section 9(2) of the Act.
• The applicant should consider the conditions of Section 11 regarding the pending cases of the applicant before applying.
• On receipt of the application, the controlling authority will start his inquiry. To process the application process, the NOC from the police is also required in written form.
• After verifying the application, the controlling authority either grants or rejects the license.
• This verification process should be completed within 60 days of receiving the application.
• If the controlling authority refuses the application, then the applicant will be given a reasonable opportunity of appeal.
• After all the Perusal, the license may be granted, then it will be valid for 5 years under Section 13(1).

Validity and renewal of PSARA license in Tripura

Once the organisation gets the license, it is valid for five years. Application for the PSARA license renewal shall be given to the controlling authority before 45 days of expiry.The controlling authority may pass an order regarding the PSARA license renewal within 30 days of receiving the renewal application.
