Edible oils and vegetable oils play a major role in the food processing industry of India. Almost every household in the country uses these oils for cooking. Therefore, this sector meets the food needs of people and makes a major contribution to the economy. It also creates employment for many people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, some of the processes used in this industry, such as the use of solvents to extract the oil and refining or deodorizing, create a lot of pollution. This causes damage to water, air, and soil. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has made some rules under the Environment Protection Act, 1986, to reduce these problems. If these rules are followed, the industry can be run without harming the environment, and sustainable production is also ensured in the long run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
