id=\"FSSAI_Rules_and_Regulations\"><\/span>FSSAI Rules and Regulations <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As per <strong>Section\n92 (1)<\/strong> of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FSSAI has <strong>six\nprincipal regulations<\/strong> which have been notified in the Gazette of India on\n1st August 2011 and <strong>came into force on\n5th August 2011<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Food_Safety_and_Standards_Licensing_and_Registration_of_Food_Businesses_Regulations_2011\"><\/span>The Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011&nbsp;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Under this regulation, the online procedure is introduced to apply for <a href=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/fssai-license\" title=\"FSSAI License Apply in India\"><strong><em>FSSAI License<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong><em>.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0Link to apply for FSSAI license: &#8211; https:\/\/foodlicensing.fssai.gov.in\/<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>By clicking the\nabove-stated link, an online application will be filled.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create the login\ncredential.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Login and fill the\nrequired information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prerequisite documents\nwill be attached to the application. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The license can be\napplied for the minimum period of 1 year and a maximum period of 5 years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Payment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Upload Form-A (in case\nof basic registration and Form-B (in case of state and central registration.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the department finds\nany insufficiency, then the application will be sent for editing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inspection can also be\nconducted by Food Safety Officer after the submission of online application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Issuance of license.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the license is\nexpired, it can\u2019t be renewed<strong>. <\/strong>So, it\nshould be renewed at least one month before the expiry otherwise penalty of Rs.\n100\/- per day shall be charged in the month prior to the expiry date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;Dahi or curd not prepared from boiled, pasteurized or sterilized milk;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Milk or a milk product specified in Food Safety and products<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Sale of food articles coated with mineral oil, Carbia Callosa and Honeydew is prohibited<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The product which is injurious to health is Regulations, 2011<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>PACKAGING:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Packaging material\nshould not be unfit for human consumption<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Containers which\nare made by plastic material should conform to the Indian Standards\nSpecification<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>General packaging\n(securely packed and sealed, free from leaks, major dents, rust,&nbsp; perforations and seam distortion )should be\nthere for canned products<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Product Specific\nRequirements for various products such as milk and milk products, edible oil\/fat,\nfruits and vegetable products, canned meat products, drinking water (both\npackaged and mineral water) <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>LABELLING:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Every packaged food shall carry a label containing the information which shall be in English, Hindi in Devnagri script.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information on the label shouldn\u2019t be false, misleading or deceptive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contents on the label shall be clear and readily legible by the Is FSSAI Registration Mandatory?\n<\/a><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Food_Safety_and_Standards_Laboratory_and_Sample_Analysis_Regulations_2011\"><\/span>The Food Safety and Standards (Laboratory and\nSample Analysis) Regulations, 2011<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Notified laboratory<\/strong>-such laboratory notified by the Food Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Referral laboratory<\/strong>-such laboratory established and\/or recognized by the Food Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Functions of the referral laboratory;-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>&nbsp;Analyze the sample of food <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;Fix the standard of any article of food<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comply with the high professional standards and discipline in relation to the food<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow the scientific protocol for testing the article of food.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide the professional training, workshops and seminars for the food analyst.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After analysis or\ntest, certificate, signed by the director, shall be issued by the laboratory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Food_Safety_and_Standards_Food_Products_Standards_and_Food_Additives_Regulations_2011\"><\/span>The Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011&nbsp;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is variation in the\nstandard of the food product with any of the provision of this act, then Food\nBusiness operator shall comply with the provision within the period of six\nmonths from the date of the commencement of the regulations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Under this regulation, the standard is provided for the following products<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Dairy products <strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fats and oils, and fat\nemulsions<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Edible ices, including sorbet<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fruits and vegetables,\nseaweeds, and nuts and seeds<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confectionery<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cereals and cereal products,\nderived from cereal grains, from roots and tubers, pulses, legumes&nbsp; <strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bakery products<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meat and meat products,\nincluding poultry and game<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fish and fish products,\nincluding molluscs, crustaceans, and echinoderm<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eggs and egg products<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sweeteners, including honey<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salts, spices, soups, sauces,\nsalads and protein products<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Foodstuffs intended for\nparticular nutritional use<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Beverages, excluding dairy\nproduct<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ready-to-eat savouries<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepared Foods \/ Composite Food<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Substances added to food- This\ncategory includes Food additives, Food enzymes, Food flavourings, Processing\nAids, Nutrients like Vitamins, Minerals, Amino Acids, Fatty Acids, Nucleotides\netc., &nbsp;microbial preparations and\ningredients of functional nature. These can be in any combination and in any\nform such as premixes, preparations, compounds, mixes etc<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Food_Safety_and_Standards_Contaminants_Toxins_and_Residues_Regulations_2011\"><\/span>The\nFood Safety and Standards (Contaminants, Toxins and Residues) Regulations, 2011&nbsp;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The contaminants-poisonous substance that makes the\nfood articles adulterated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Crop\ncontainment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Metal containment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Toxins<\/strong>&#8211; a poison produced by or derived from microorganisms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Residues-<\/strong> a substance that remains after the main part has gone, taken or used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>No article of food shall contain any metal in excess of the quantity specified in this regulation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensures that there will be no adulteration that will put danger to human life.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assure that food is acceptable for human consumption.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check the level of toxin in the article of food.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inspect that the level of antibiotics in seafood shall not exceed the prescribed tolerance limit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"CONCLUSION\"><\/span>CONCLUSION<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>FSAAI has become the guiding principle for the food sector in India.
