weight\n  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Declarations_That_Are_To_Be_Made_On_Every_Package_by_the_Importer\"><\/span>Declarations That Are To Be Made On Every Package by the Importer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Every types of commodities covered under legal metrology Act shall bear the following declaration in a definite declaration made in accordance with the provisions of the law.\n<ul>\n<li>The name and address of the manufacturer, importer and packer shall be mentioned in the package.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Should mention the common or generic names of the commodity in the package, and in case the packages with more than one product, then each name and number or quantity of each product shall be mentioned on the package.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The package should contain a net quantity of the products in terms of the standard unit of weight or measure. If the commodity is pre-packed and sold by number, then the number of the commodity contained in the package shall be mentioned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The pre-packaged commodity should contain the month and year manufactured or imported.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The retail sale price of the package.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the package contains exact dimensions of the commodities, then it should be mentioned in the packages. If the dimensions of the commodity contained in the package are different, the dimensions of each such different piece shall be mentioned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Every package should possess the name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address of the person available, who can be contacted in case of consumer complaints.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The package is permissible to affix individual stickers on the package for altering or making a declaration about the products.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Declarations_of_Importers_Concerning_Dimensions_of_Certain_Types_of_Commodities_under_the_Legal_Metrology_Act\"><\/span>Declarations of Importers Concerning Dimensions of\nCertain Types of Commodities under the Legal Metrology Act<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If the package contains certain types of commodities covered under <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/legal-metrology-act-registration\">legal metrology<\/a><\/strong> like bed sheets, hemmed fabric materials, dhoties, sarees, napkins, pillow covers, towels, table cloths and any other similar other commodities, their number and the dimensions of the finished size of such commodities should be mandatorily declared on the package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/packaged-commodity-registration\">packaged commodities<\/a><\/strong> contain more than one piece of different dimensions, then the package should contain a declaration of each product&#8217;s dimensions and the retail sale price of each piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Declarations_of_a_Commodity_When_It_Is_In_a_Wholesale_Package\"><\/span>Declarations of a Commodity When It Is In a\nWholesale Package<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Every wholesale package shall bear the following\ndeclarations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>The\nname and address, and details of the manufacturer or importer, or packer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The\nidentity of the commodity and the net quantity of products in terms of standard\nunits of weights, measures or the number of the commodity\ncontained in the wholesale package.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Exemption_In_Respect_Of_Specific_Types_of_Commodities_Covered_Under_Legal_Metrology\"><\/span>Exemption In Respect Of Specific Types of\nCommodities Covered Under Legal Metrology<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The following exemptions need not follow the rules\nand conditions of the Legal metrology pre-packaged commodities (LMPC) rules,\n2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>If\nthe net weight or measure of the commodity is 10 grams or 10 millilitres or\nless then it is exempted from LMPC rules, provided the declaration in respect\nof maximum retail price and net quantity shall\nbe declared on packages containing 10g to 20g or 10ml\nto 20ml.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any\npackage containing fast food items packed by restaurants or hotels<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If\nthe package contains scheduled formulations and non-scheduled formulations\ncovered under the Drugs\n(Price Control) Order,1995, made under section 3 of <strong>the Essential Commodities<\/strong><strong> Act, 1955<\/strong><sup><a class=\"text-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/www.indiacode.nic.in\/bitstream\/123456789\/1579\/1\/A1955__10.pdf\"><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/sup> (10 of 1955)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The\nagricultural products in packages of above 50 kg<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span>Conclusion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Different types of commodities covered under Legal Metrology rules and regulations. So every importer or manufacturer handling these products should follow all the procedures mentioned in the Legal Metrology Act.
