The AIR must all submit an\nundertaking with the nomination form along with an affidavit.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Steps_to_Obtain_BIS_ISI_Certification_for_Multipurpose_Dry_Batteries\"><\/span>Steps to Obtain BIS ISI Certification for Multipurpose\nDry Batteries<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A manufacturer or importer of multipurpose dry\nbatteries looking to obtain BIS ISI Certification for Multipurpose Dry\nBatteries must follow the below-mentioned steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Nominate an All-India Representative<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For Indian manufacturers applying for BIS ISI\ncertificate. The AIR or All India Representative shall be the manufacturer\nherself. However, if the applicant is a foreign manufacturer who does not have\na liaising office in India, she shall appoint a local trader or importer to be\nthe AIR. The AIR can be nominated through a letter of nomination and the format\nfor the letter can be found in Form-IV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Make\nan Account on the BIS portal<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The manufacturer is required to visit the\nofficial BIS portal and create an official account. This is important as the\napplicant along with necessary documents, shall be submitted to BIS using this\naccount to obtain a BIS ISI certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Submit\nthe Product for Testing<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The applicant is to submit the product for\ntesting to be assessed according to the IS 8144:2018 standard. These tests must\nbe conducted by a BIS-approved laboratory for which the test request can be\nmade through the Manak online portal. The test report shall be prepared in\naccordance with the BIS norms and can be downloaded from the Manak portal. It\nshall be valid for a period of 90 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Duly\nFill out the Application on BIS Portal<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After the applicant receives the test report,\nshe is next required to file the application form along with all the requisite\ndocuments mentioned above. The applicant must also furnish the application fees\nand other prescribed charges. The applicant must ensure that while filling out\nthe application, the Indian Standard 8144:2018 for multipurpose dry cells is\nselected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Furnish\nRequisite Information <\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>At this stage, the applicant is required to\nprovide necessary information pertaining to the machinery and raw material used\nand the manufacturing process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Review\nof application and Inspection of Manufacturing Site<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After BIS receives the application and the\nrequisite documents, officials from the BIS team shall scrutinize the\napplication and document and assess the credibility of the test report. If the\nofficials have any query pertaining to the application, the applicant is\nprovided with an opportunity to provide clarity or rectify any defect in the\napplication. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the application and documents have been\nscrutinized by the BIS officials, an inspecting officer is sent to inspect the\nmanufacturing unit to conduct applicable tests to assess compliance with\nstandards laid down by BIS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Onsite\nVerification <\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>During the onsite inspection, a BIS officer\nverifies the hard copy of the necessary documents and the test report, and the\ntesting process and the manufacturing procedure are also verified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Issuance\nof Certificate<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After the\nofficer conducts the onsite information and verifies the documents and is\nsatisfied with the sufficiency of it, BIS shall grant the BIS ISI certificate\nto the product and the applicant is now permitted to affix the standard mark on\nthe product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It can take 35-45 days to complete the process of\nobtaining a BIS ISI certification for multipurpose dry batteries, including\ntesting, review of the application, test reports, requisite documents by <strong>BIS<\/strong><sup><a class=\"text-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bis.gov.in\/\"><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/sup> and the issuance of the certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Validity_of_BIS_ISI_Certification_for_Multipurpose_Dry_Batteries\"><\/span>Validity of BIS ISI Certification for Multipurpose Dry\nBatteries<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The validity of a BIS ISI Certification for\nMultipurpose Dry Batteries is for a period of two years and can be renewed by\npaying the prescribed renewal fee if the product specifications remain the same.\nThe renewed BIS ISI certificate is valid for one to five years and the\napplicant is required to pay the requisite.
