Without a BIS ISI Certification\nfor Freezers, manufacturers of freezers cannot import or export or sell\nfreezers in the Indian markets. Freezers are regulated by the <strong><em>IS\n7872:2020 standard<\/em><\/strong>. This standard has been formulated by the BIS and\nprovides for the minimum performance, structural, safety and quality\nrequirements and the method for testing the performance of freezers in India.\nThis standard categorically applies to freezers with a storage capacity of\nfifty to thousand liters. The standard requires freezers to maintain a mean\ninternal cabinet air temperature of ten degree Celsius with an ambient\ntemperature of 43 degrees celsius. While filling out the application, the\napplicable Indian Standard for freezers IS 7872:2020 is to be selected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Provide\nInformation <\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The manufacturer is to provide the requisite\ndetails regarding raw materials, machinery, and manufacturing process and\nupload the test reports provided by third-party labs authorized by ISI or by an\nin-house lab on the factory premises. Also, provide details of the in-house\ntesting facility available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Inspection\n<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the application with the requisite documents\nis received by the BIS, it sends its team of professionals to visit the\nmanufacturing unit and conduct all the essential tests to check for compliance\nwith the ISI standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Verification\n<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After the inspection, a BIS officer verifies the\ndocuments and the test report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Grant\nof Certificate<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once\nthe officer is satisfied with the inspection and verification of the report and\nthe essential documents, the product is granted a BIS Certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Validity_of_BIS_ISI_Certification_for_Freezers\"><\/span>Validity of BIS ISI Certification for Freezers<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once granted, a BIS ISI Certification for\nFreezers is valid for two years after receipt of the certificate. The same can\nbe renewed if there is no change in the product specifications. The subsequent BIS\nISI certificate granted for renewal shall be valid for a period of one to five\nyears from the date of receipt of the certificate. The certificate is subject\nto the applicable licensing and surveillance fee.
