From Oct 2022, the said medical devices having risk classes A &amp; B will be covered under Licensing Regime of CDSCO. It\nworks under the Ministry of Health &amp; Family Welfare which the Directorate\nGeneral of Health Services regulates under the Government of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>In\nIndia, a medical device is categorised into 2 different categories:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Non-Notified Medical Devices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notified Medical Devices<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nMDR, 2017 were brought into effect on Jan 2018 by the Central Drugs Standard\nControl Organisation. The CDSCO categorises medical devices into 4 different\nclasses i.e., Class A, B, C &amp; D. Under this classification, Medical Devices\nare categorised based on risks involved. Out of which,\nonly <strong><em>Class\nA &amp; B Medical Devices<\/em><\/strong> will fall under Licensing Regime from 1<sup>st<\/sup>\nOctober 2022.
