It was established\nunder the BIS Act 2016, to promote harmonious activities like the development\nof standardisation, product marking, quality certification of goods and other\nmatters related to the BIS. The Bureau of Indian standards provides various\nbenefits to the national economy, such as- <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Providing reliable and safe\ngoods of good quality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reducing health risks to the\ncustomers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promoting the import-export\nsubstitutes <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Controlling the proliferation\nof varieties, etc., through testing, standardisation and certification. &nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong><a class=\"text-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/bis-crs-registration\">BIS CRS Certification<\/a><\/strong>\nfor DC or AC Supplied&nbsp;Electronic Control gear is also provided by the BIS.\nApart from this, the Bureau of Indian Standards is involved in various other\nactivities, such as \u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Standards Formulation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Product Certification Scheme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compulsory Registration Scheme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hall Marking Scheme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Laboratory Services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Laboratory Recognition Scheme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sale of Indian Standards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consumer Affairs Activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promotional Activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Training Services, National &amp;\n     International level<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information Services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"BIS_regulation_on_DC_or_AC_Supplied_Electronic_Control_gear\"><\/span><strong>BIS regulation on DC or AC Supplied&nbsp;Electronic Control gear<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of\nElectronics and Information technology issued an order on 18<sup>th<\/sup> march\n2021, titled &#8220;Electronics and Information technology goods (Requirement of\nCompulsory Registration) order, 2021\u201d. The order stated that the goods or\narticles specified in the schedule mentioned in the order must conform to the Indian\nStandards and carry a &#8220;Standard mark&#8221; under the Scheme-II of Schedule-II\nof Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) regulations, 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The order shall\nrun concurrently with the \u201cElectronics and Information Technology Goods\n(Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2012\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The BIS CRS\nCertification for DC or AC Supplied&nbsp;Electronic Control gear is mentioned\nunder Indian Standards IS 15885: Part 2: Sec 13: 2012, as Safety of Lamp\nControl gear Part 2 Particular Requirements Section 13 d.c. or a.c. Supplied\nElectronic Control Gear for LED modules. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tests_for_DC_or_AC_Supplied_Electronic_Control_gear\"><\/span><strong>Tests for DC or AC Supplied&nbsp;Electronic Control gear<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To proceed with\nthe BIS CRS Certification for DC or AC Supplied&nbsp;Electronic Control gear\nunder Indian Standards IS 15885 (Part 2\/Sec 13), the following tests are\nconducted for product approval-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Test related to marking\nrequirements <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Test related to Insulating\nproperties <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Test related to Mechanical\nProperties <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Test related to Thermal\nProperties<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Test related to Safety\nrequirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Documents_required\"><\/span><strong>Documents required <\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Documents\nthat are required to obtain BIS CRS Certification for DC or AC Supplied&nbsp;Electronic\nControl gear is as follows-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>BIS application form<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CDF\/CCL form<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scope of Business License <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Business license of manufacturing facility<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Marking the label of the product<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manufacturer&#8217;s ISO certificate&nbsp; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Test Reports<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Letter of authorisation <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trademark authorisation letter (if the manufacturer does not own Trademark)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trademark certificate of the product<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Photo identification of the Indian representative<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Registration proof of authorised Indian representative (Foreign manufacturer) <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>User Guide of product or Technical Specification Sheet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Procedure_for_BIS_CRS_Certification_for_DC_or_AC_Supplied_Electronic_Control_gear\"><\/span><strong>Procedure for BIS CRS Certification for DC or AC Supplied&nbsp;Electronic\nControl gear.<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The procedure to\nobtain BIS CRS Certification for DC or AC Supplied&nbsp;Electronic Control gear\nfor a foreign manufacturer differs from that of an Indian Manufacturer. A\nforeign manufacturer cannot perform the official duties of an Indian\nmanufacturer. Therefore an Authorised Indian Representative or AIR is appointed\non behalf of a foreign manufacturer to perform his duties and responsibilities.\nThe procedure to obtain BIS CRS Certification for DC or AC\nSupplied&nbsp;Electronic Control gear for both Indian and Foreign Manufacturers\nis mentioned below- <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The process to be followed by a foreign manufacturer is as follows\n&#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>An AIR is appointed to perform duties\non the Manufacturer&#8217;s behalf<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The AIR submits all the required\ndocuments and application forms to the BIS office.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After submitting the application form\nand other documents, the AIR must present the product sample to a BIS-approved\nlaboratory for product testing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After the products are tested, the\ntest results are collected from the BIS-approved lab and submitted to the BIS\noffice for further inspection and verification. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While submitting the test results, a\ncopy of the online or offline application form must also be submitted to the\nBIS office. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The BIS officers then verify the\nsubmitted documents and reports before approval.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After the verification, the BIS office\nissues a BIS CRS Certification for DC or AC Supplied&nbsp;Electronic Control\ngear to the Manufacturer or an Authorised Indian Representative.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The process to be followed by a Indian Manufacturer is as follows-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>The Manufacturer submits all the\nrequired documents and application forms to the BIS\noffice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After submitting the application form\nalong with the other documents, the Manufacturer must submit the product sample\nto a BIS-approved laboratory for product testing. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After the products are tested, the\ntest results are collected from the BIS-approved lab and submitted to the BIS\noffice for further inspection and verification. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While submitting the test results, a\ncopy of the online or offline application form must also be submitted to the\nBIS office. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The BIS officers then verify the\nsubmitted documents and reports before approval. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After the verification, the BIS office\nissues a BIS CRS Certification for DC or AC Supplied&nbsp;Electronic Control\ngear. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span><strong>Conclusion <\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Bureau of Indian Standards<\/strong><sup><a class=\"text-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bis.gov.in\/\"><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/sup> has the DC or AC Supplied\u00a0Electronic Control gear listed under Indian Standards IS 15885: Part 2: Sec 13: 2012. BIS CRS Certification for DC or AC Supplied\u00a0Electronic Control gear can be obtained under Schedule II Scheme II, prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards. The maximum term for renewal of registration is five years, and the minimum time for grant of license is two years.
