When applying for an <em>ECO MARK<\/em>, the Manufacturer must provide\nan <strong><em>Environmental\nConsent Clearance<\/em><\/strong> from the relevant SPCB (State Pollution Control\nBoard) to BIS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Depending\non the raw materials used in the manufacturing of this product, the material\nshall be of 2 different types:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Type\nA:<\/strong> The material should be produced from pulp that\ncontains not less than 60% by mass of pulp made from non-bamboo, non-recycled\nmaterials &amp; non-softwood materials.<\/li><li><strong>Type-B<\/strong>:\nThe material must be manufactured from pulp made completely from waste paper.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Testing_Packing_Marking_of_the_Plain_Copier_Paper\"><\/span>Testing,\nPacking &amp; Marking of the Plain Copier Paper<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol><li><strong>Packing<\/strong>:\nEach ream of the paper shall be wrapped by means of wax coating to prevent\nmoisture absorption. Then, it shall be packed in 4-ply corrugated cartons to\nmake sure that the paper is not damaged or destroyed due to handling &amp;\ntransportation or shall be packed as agreed to between the supplier &amp; the\npurchaser. For <strong>ECO\nMARK<\/strong><sup><a class=\"text-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ecomark\"><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/sup>, the product or item shall be packed in such packages, which\nshall be reusable or recyclable or biodegradable.<\/li><li><strong>Marking<\/strong>:\nThe package of the product shall be marked with the following details:<\/li><li>Size &amp; description of the\npaper;<\/li><li>Quantity;<\/li><li>Thickness in microns &amp;\nsubstance in g\/m2;<\/li><li>Lot. No. and Month &amp; Year of\nmanufacture;<\/li><li>Indication of the source of\nmanufacture.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The\npackage shall be marked with details as specified in the Standard. Each\nreel\/ream shall also be marked with ISI Mark. Packaging &amp; Marking shall be\ndone by the requirements of IS 14490:2018. The Manufacturer must get a BIS\nLicense from the BIS to use an ISI Mark. The BIS issues a License based on a\nsuccessful assessment of quality control, production process, manufacturing\ninfrastructure, testing capabilities &amp; testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Testing:<\/strong>\nThe following tests shall be done:<\/li><li>Thickness;<\/li><li>Sizes;<\/li><li>Capacity;<\/li><li>Brightness;<\/li><li>Smoothness;<\/li><li>Wax pick.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A\nlab shall be adequately maintained, in which the various tests shall be carried\nout as per the methods specified in the Standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Documents_Required_for_BIS_ISI_Certification_for_Plain_Copier_Paper\"><\/span>Documents\nRequired for BIS ISI Certification for Plain Copier Paper<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nfollowing are the documents required for BIS ISI Certification for Plain Copier\nPaper:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Establishment proof such as\nCertificate of Incorporation, Partnership Deed, GST Certificate, etc.,;<\/li><li>List of test equipment;<\/li><li>A layout plan indicates the map\nlocation of considerable manufacturing equipment or lab;<\/li><li>Details on manufacturing\nmachinery;<\/li><li>A list includes information on\nraw materials used &amp; a replica of test certificates;<\/li><li>The in-house testing report of\nproduct samples;<\/li><li>Flow chart process comprising of\nall the manufacturing, details regarding in-process control of each stage,\nincluding outsourced stages;<\/li><li>List of quality testing\nindividuals &amp; copies of Qualification Certificates of QCP (Quality Control\nPersonnel);<\/li><li>Trademark Registration\nCertificate;<\/li><li>Factory\nlocation plan from nearby airport or landmark or railway station &amp; guidance\nregarding how to reach the BIS Office.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Procedure_for_BIS_ISI_Certification_for_Plain_Copier_Paper\"><\/span>Procedure for\nBIS ISI Certification for Plain Copier Paper<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Following\nis the step-by-step procedure for BIS ISI Certification for Plain Copier Paper:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1: Product Testing<\/strong>:\nThe product, i.e., Plain Copier Paper for which BIS ISI Certificate is\nrequired, should be tested in a BIS-certified lab as per the Standards. The\nrequest for product testing must be generated by the MANAK portal to any\nBIS-recognised lab. The lab tests will be performed on the basis of testing\nparameters cited under the Indian Standards and generated in the test report.\nThe same reports are uploaded by the BIS-recognised lab on the online portal,\nusing which the Manufacturer files the application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2: Application Filing<\/strong>:\nOnce the BIS-recognised lab submits the test reports, then the Manufacturer can\nfile the application as per the test reports. It is mandatory to upload all the\nimportant documents along with the information asked in the application. Once\nthe Manufacturer completes the application can &amp; uploads all the documents,\nthen the Manufacturer is required to pay the fees to the Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3: Inspection<\/strong>:\nAfter submitting the documents &amp; application, the BIS Officials will\nexamine all the details, documents &amp; applications submitted by the\nManufacturer to the Bureau of Indian Standards. The authenticity of the test\nreport is checked; if the Department want any additional documents, then the\nsame should be provided before the allotted inspection dates. Once all the\ndocuments &amp; details satisfy the inspection officer, then a Factory\nInspection will be conducted by the Inspection Officer where all the documents are\nexamined in hardcopy and the testing &amp; manufacturing procedure is verified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 4: Issuance of BIS License:<\/strong>\nAfter the Factory Inspection, the officer submits the inspection\/examination\nreport to the Certification Officer will all the remarks. Then, they will issue\nthe BIS License to the Manufacturer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Penalty_for_Misusing_the_ISI_Mark\"><\/span>Penalty for\nMisusing the ISI Mark<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nBureau of Indian Standards proposed severe penalties for misusing ISI Mark,\nlike product duplicity and logo imitation or copy. As per the norms, anyone\nfound guilty of such misconduct will have to pay Rs. 50,000 &amp; imprisonment\nfor 1 year. The Bureau of Indian Standards has constituted an enforcement\ndepartment to monitor the illegal uses of ISI Mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span>Conclusion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is mandatory for the manufacturers of products to obtain BIS ISI Certification for Plain Copier Paper if the product is covered under the BIS Conformity Assessment Scheme.
