The Government of India has mandated gold Jewellery\nhallmarking effective from June 16, 2021. A purity certificate cannot be issued with the XRF method.<\/li><li><strong>Fire\nAssaying<\/strong>: In this method, the article is destroyed\ncompletely, and this method is one of the most accurate &amp; popular methods\nto determine the purity of gold all around the world. Once the article is submitted,\nthe centre will give a report after testing the article and provide details to\nthe consumer regarding the purity of the Jewellery.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Process_to_get_Jewellery_Hallmark_Logo_for_Your_Old_Jewellery\"><\/span>Process to get\nJewellery Hallmark Logo for Your Old Jewellery <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If\nyou have old un-hallmarked silver or gold jewellery, then you can follow either\ntwo options mentioned below to get Jewellery Hallmark Logo for your old\nJewellery:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Option 1<\/strong>:\nFirst, the old Jewellery can be tested at any BIS-recognised Assaying &amp;\nHallmarking Centre and hallmarked via a BIS registered Jeweller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Option 2<\/strong>:\nOld un-hallmarked jewellery can be melted to convert into a new product which\ncan be hallmarked by a BIS-certified Assaying &amp; Hallmarking Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>T0\nget the old Jewellery hallmarked, the BIS-certified Jeweller will submit the\nold Jewellery for testing &amp; hallmarking to a BIS-certified Assaying &amp;\nHallmarking Centre. After testing, the A&amp;H Centre will apply the <strong>Hallmark<\/strong><sup><a class=\"text-primary\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hallmark\"><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/sup>\non the Jewellery if it meets the requirement of the purity standards. The\nBureau of Indian Standards or BIS has developed a digital solution in which the\nworkflow at the A&amp;H centre is automated. The Jeweller submits the online\nrequest for marking &amp; the data for the overall process, comprising inward\nreceipt &amp; weight, X-ray Fluorescence, fire assay, sampling, and laser\nmarking, are observed in real-time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After\ntesting, a unique 6-digit alphanumerical code is generated from the BIS service\nfor each jewellery article &amp; is laser-marked by the Assaying &amp;\nHallmarking Centre on the Jewellery along with a BIS logo &amp; purity mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"BIS_Hallmarking_Signs_Before_July_2021\"><\/span>BIS Hallmarking\nSigns Before July 2021<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier,\nthe hallmarking of Jewellery has two other signs apart from the purity sign\n&amp; BIS Logo Mark. These were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Identification mark or number 0f\nthe Assay Centre;<\/li><li>Identification Number of the\nJeweller.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>However,\nthese 2 signs have been replaced with the alphanumeric <strong><em>HUID Code<\/em><\/strong>, as we\ndiscussed above.
