The program aims to boost the increasingly developing information technology and electronic industry in India. By employing this strategy, the Indian government has bridged the safety, technology, and human capital gaps and stopped dumping non-compliant goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The BIS certification program is voluntary in nature. However, the\ngovernment has implied a rule that various products should be complied with\naccording to the Indian standards to safeguard national security, the\nenvironment&#8217;s safety, public interest, and the health of people, animals, and\nplants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>The functions performed by BIS are listed below-<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Establishing\nand Disseminating Indian Standards<\/li><li>Putting\nConformity Assessment Schemes into Practice<\/li><li>Praising\nlaboratories for conducting experiments and tests<\/li><li>Putting\nhallmarking systems in place<\/li><li>Working to\nempower consumers<\/li><li>Providing\nconsumers with quality assurance<\/li><li>India&#8217;s\nrepresentation in ISO and IEC<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tests_Required_for_Lead_Acid_Batteries\"><\/span><strong>Tests Required for Lead Acid Batteries<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Lead Acid Batteries are divided into groups to send samples to a\nlab for testing because they vary in sizes, ratings, varieties, etc. A\ndirective outlining the testing requirements for registering BIS Standards for\nLead Acid Batteries has been released by the Standards of Quality Control\nDivision of the Ministry of New &amp; Renewable Energy. The following are the\ntest requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Material and\nConstruction:<\/strong> The\nrequirements listed below must be met to meet BIS Standards for lead acid\nbatteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The cells or\nbatteries must be produced using high-quality raw materials and be free of any\nflaws that could impair their performance.<\/li><li>For vented\nbatteries, hard rubber, transparent SAN, fibre-reinforced plastic, or\npolypropylene must be used in the container. For sealed batteries,\npolypropylene co-polymer, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene,\nstyrene-acrylonitrile, or any other acid-resistant plastic material must be\nused.<\/li><li>The separators,\nsulphuric acid, water, and plastic containers used must meet the specifications\noutlined in Cl. 7.2 of IS 16270.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Battery\nCharging:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The manufacturer can suggest a method for charging the cells or\nbatteries to the testing facility. If the customer does not want to provide the\ninformation, Cl. 7.2&#8217;s procedure will be applied. Variations in temperature and\nhumidity can also impact the performance and life of the cells and batteries.\nAs stated in Cl. 4.3.9 of IS 16270, the manufacturer&#8217;s recommendations\nregarding the operating temperature and humidity limits during battery testing\nmust be followed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sampling and Sequence of tests: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of eight cells or batteries must be removed from the\nproduction batch for testing. The IS 13369\/IS 1651 standards require that each\npack of cells or batteries have the same nominal voltage, rated capacity,\nelectrolyte composition, specific gravity, and overall dimensions. The outside\ncells or batteries must be permanently and indelibly marked with the source of\nmanufacture, Ah capacity, year of manufacture, country of origin, and other\ninformation as per the applicable IS 13369\/IS 1651 clauses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Test of Sequence:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<table class=\"table table-bordered\"><tbody><tr><td>\n  <strong>Sr. No<\/strong>\n  <\/td><td>\n  <strong>Test Type <\/strong>\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  <strong>1<\/strong>\n  <\/td><td>\n  Physical Verification\n  (Verification of Marking &amp; Dimensions)\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  <strong>2<\/strong>\n  <\/td><td>\n  Capacity test @ C\/10 Rate\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  <strong>3<\/strong>\n  <\/td><td>\n  Endurance test\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  <strong>4<\/strong>\n  <\/td><td>\n  Charge Retention Test\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  <strong>5<\/strong>\n  <\/td><td>\n  Cyclic Endurance in\n  photovoltaic application\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  <strong>6<\/strong>\n  <\/td><td>\n  Sulphation Test\n  <\/td><\/tr><tr><td>\n  <strong>7<\/strong>\n  <\/td><td>\n  Water Loss Test\n  <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Requirement:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the pertinent clauses of IS 16047(Part 3):2018\/IEC 61960-3:2017 and IS16270:2014, the pass criterion must be strictly followed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Selecting the\nRepresentative Model for Stationary Lead Acid Batteries:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All ratings included in the series must pass short-term tests\n(capacity, retention of charge, sulphation, and water loss). The specific\nrating must be resubmitted for testing if any test sample fails any short-term\ntests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sample with the highest capacity rating will undergo all\ntesting, including endurance tests. All samples in the series will receive test\nresults for the qualifying product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For cells or batteries to be categorized as part of the same\nseries, the manufacturer must provide an assurance to the test lab that no\nchanges were made to the grid alloy composition, grid purity, grid thickness,\ningredients used to prepare the electrodes, preparation methods, electrode\nthickness, or quality control procedures used to manufacture any of the models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note: Safety and other information to be provided by\nManufacturer\/Supplier for batteries used for Photovoltaic Applications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Documents_required_for_BIS_Certification_for_Lead_Acid_Batteries-_BIS_Standards_for_Lead_Acid_Batteries\"><\/span><strong>Documents required for BIS Certification for Lead Acid\nBatteries- BIS Standards for Lead Acid Batteries <\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Following\nare the crucial documents required for BIS Certification for Lead Acid\nBatteries:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Completed CDF\/CCL form<\/li><li>Completed BIS application form.<\/li><li>The manufacturing facility&#8217;s business license<\/li><li>The Business License&#8217;s purview<\/li><li>ISO manufacturer certification<\/li><li>The product&#8217;s label or marking information<\/li><li>Letter of authorization (If the signatory person is other than the head of the manufacturing)<\/li><li>Test Results<\/li><li>Certificate of Trademark<\/li><li>Trademark Authorization letter (If TM is owned by other than the manufacturer)<\/li><li>Evidence of a company&#8217;s authorized Indian representative status in India (in the case of the foreign manufacturer)<\/li><li>Photo identification of the authorized signatory or Indian representative<\/li><li>Product&#8217;s Technical Specification Sheet or User Guide<\/li><li>Product Guide<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Procedure_to_obtain_BIS_Standards_for_Lead_Acid_Batteries\"><\/span><strong>Procedure to obtain\nBIS Standards for Lead Acid Batteries<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The manufacturer must first apply for the BIS Standards for Lead\nAcid Batteries to obtain the BIS Certification for Lead Acid Batteries.
