BIS was constituted on 26 January 1987 under the BIS Act, 1987, to develop standardization &amp; quality assurance in India. Following are the main function of BIS:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>To lay down standards for goods &amp; services.<\/li><li>To establish laboratories to carry out tests\n&amp; research related to standardization.<\/li><li>To act as a nodal agency to promote quality\ncontrol &amp; quality assurance in India.<\/li><li>To promote development &amp; research in the\nfield of standardization.<\/li><li>To disseminate details on standards through\nworkshops, publications, conferences, etc.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_Refrigerator\"><\/span>What is Refrigerator?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nRefrigerators with\/without low temperature are covered under IS 1476(Part 1):\n2000. This standard (Part 1) specifies the important characteristics of fully\nfactory assembled household refrigerators with\/without crisper, ice making,\nfrozen food storage compartments, and the test methods for determining those\ncharacteristics. The test described in the Indian standard is the type which\napplies to the Tropical Class (T) appliances. This standard applies to\nhousehold refrigerating appliances classified as Tropical Class (T) and is\nintended for use in ambient temperatures of +18\u02daC to +43\u02daC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Documents_required_to_Obtain_BIS_ISI_for_Refrigerator\"><\/span>Documents required to Obtain\nBIS ISI for Refrigerator<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Following are\nsome essential documents which require to obtain BIS ISI for Refrigerator in\nIndia:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Name &amp; address of office &amp; factory.<\/li><li>Documents showing the establishment of the\nmanufacturing unit like Registration Certificate or Incorporation Certificate\nor MoA, etc.<\/li><li>MSME or SSI certificate (if applicable)<\/li><li>Manufacturing process flow covering all\nprocedures of manufacture (from raw material to finished product stage)<\/li><li>List of manufacturing machinery with the\nmachinery information.<\/li><li>Information on outsourcing of manufacturing\noperations (if applicable)<\/li><li>List of testing facilities &amp; testing equipment.<\/li><li>Copies of valid calibration certificates of\ntesting equipment <\/li><li>Third-party laboratory test report according to\nIndian Standards (if applicable)<\/li><li>Layout plan of the factory premises &amp; map\nlocation plan of the factory<\/li><li>In-house or independent test report (if\napplicable)<\/li><li>If the authorized signatory signs the application,\nthe authorization letter by the CEO in the authorized signatory&#8217;s name<\/li><li>In case of a foreign manufacturer or\ninternational applicant, nomination information of Indian agent &amp;\nnomination form.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Procedure_to_obtain_BIS_ISI_for_Refrigerator\"><\/span>Procedure to obtain BIS ISI for\nRefrigerator<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Following are the process to obtain BIS ISI for Refrigerator in India:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1: Product Testing: <\/strong>The product\nfor that the ISI mark certification is required must be tested in any BIS\nAuthorized laboratory according to the designated Indian Standard. The\nBIS-authorized laboratory performs every test according to the guidelines\nmentioned under the Indian Standard &amp; generated the test report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2: Application Filling:<\/strong> The\napplicant must fill out the application Form-V. And submit all essential\ndocuments as prescribed by the authority in the respective fields with all the\ninformation asked in the application. Once the information and documents are\nuploaded, the applicant needs to pay the licensing &amp; surveillance fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3: Inspection Process: <\/strong>After the\napplication filling, the BIS officer and BIS authorized Inspection team will\nvisit the factory premise to inspect the production and manufacturing unit. And\nalso see all the facilities and working conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 4: Verification Process:<\/strong> After the\nfactory Inspection procedure, the BIS officer will verify the test report of\nproduct samples and all the essential documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 5: Grant of License:<\/strong> Once the test\nreport is reviewed and verified, all the documents. And the BIS officer is\nsatisfied with the test report and documents. Then BIS is granted the BIS ISI\nfor Refrigerator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Validity_of_the_BIS_ISI_Certification\"><\/span>Validity of the BIS ISI\nCertification<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The BIS ISI\nCertificate grant by the BIS is valid for two years. The applicant can renew\nthe BIS ISI Certification when there is no change in the concerned product\n&amp; prescribed standards. The renewed BIS ISI Certificate will be valid for\none year to 5 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Note:\nthe BIS ISI Certificate renewal is subject to an annual advance minimum license\nfee &amp; marking fee.
