The BIS, under the gazette of India, has set up orders and instructions for the manufacturing of Pressure Cookers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nBureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is a body that assures the standard and safety\nquality of a product manufactured in India. BIS certificate is an assurance of a product&#8217;s quality,\nstandard, safety, durability and reliability for its customers. The BIS\noperates for various other things like providing certificates to products,\nformulating standards, testing products, hallmarking, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/bis-registration\"><strong>BIS certification<\/strong><\/a> of products is completely voluntary, but the Government of India has made it necessary for certain products to obtain a BIS certification in order to maintain public safety and health. The BIS ISI allows the license holders to use the ISI mark on their products. The ISI mark is a standard for quality and reliability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BIS\nISI for Pressure Cooker is provided by the BIS. ISI mark is a mark provided by\nBIS to any product that ensures the quality and reliability of the product.\nThere are certain products which require mandatory certification of ISI mark,\nand without which, it will not be allowed for those products to be sold in\nIndia. ISI mark ensures the safety of the customers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Along\nwith other products, the Pressure cookers also are under the mandatory list of\nBSI ISI requirements in India. The pressure cookers are certified under Indian\nStandards IS-2347 in India. The BIS has also issued key requirements of quality\nchecks for pressure cookers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Quality_Standard_of_Pressure_cooker\"><\/span>Quality Standard of\nPressure cooker<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>BIS\nISI for Pressure cookers in India is certified under IS-2347. The nominal range\nby which a pressure cooker can hold something has to be somewhere between 1 to\n22 Litres. It is mandatory for a pressure cooker to be made with some specific\nmaterials, especially the parts of the cooker that comes in contact with food,\nwater, heat, and steam shall be made of the following materials-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The materials\nused to make a pressure cooker must not discolour the food or spoil the food\nitem in terms of any kind of taste, odour or colour infused in food while\ncooking in the cooker.<\/li><li>The food cooked\nin the cooker shall not harm the cooker in terms of quality and standard. The\nsafety and efficiency of the food shall remain the same after cooking the food.\n<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Quality_Measures_to_Obtain_BIS_ISI_for_Pressure_Cooker\"><\/span>Quality Measures to\nObtain BIS ISI for Pressure Cooker<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To\nmaintain quality control, there are a few tests that are required to be\nconducted in order to obtain BIS ISI for pressure cooker. Those tests are as\nfollows-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Test to check Air\npressure <\/li><li>Test to check\nProof pressure <\/li><li>Operating test to\ncheck pressure regulation of devices <\/li><li>Safety pressure\nrelief device testing <\/li><li>Test to check\nbursting pressure<\/li><li>Checking of lid\nremoval under pressure <\/li><li>Spring-loaded\nmechanism test <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The\ntests conducted for the quality check must be done for each pressure cooker of\nthe same type in order to check the quality of the entire group. As per Indian\nStandards IS 2437: 2017, the labelling and marking shall be done as specified\naccording to the standards, where- <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each\ncooker should be marked according to the capacity it holds. The marking should\nbe done on the body of the cooker, and the manufacturer&#8217;s name or any trademark\nshould be imprinted on the body as well as the lid of the cooker. The mark\nshould be present in the carton as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nISI mark can also be stamped on the body of the pressure cooker. BIS ISI for\nPressure Cooker must be obtained in order to use the ISI mark on the\naforementioned places on the product. However, the license is granted only\nafter making sure that the products pass all the quality and safety measures\nrequired by BIS in order to maintain standardization. The BSI first checks all\nthe measures like the manufacturing premise, the manufacturing process, quality\ncheck and other relevant tests before granting a BIS ISI. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Documents_required_to_obtain_BIS_ISI_for_Pressure_Cooker\"><\/span>Documents required\nto obtain BIS ISI for Pressure Cooker<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The\ndocuments required in order to obtain an ISI certificate may vary from product\nto product. However, the general requirement of the documents which are to be\nsubmitted by the manufacturer in order to obtain the BIS ISI are as follows- <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>ID proof,\nincluding the address of the office and factory<\/li><li>Incorporation\ncertificate\/ Registration certificate\/MoU, etc. of the Factory, or any such\ndocument which shows the establishment of the factory. <\/li><li>MSME\/SSI certificate\n(if applicable)<\/li><li>Flowchart of the\nmanufacturing process, with details of the entire manufacturing process <\/li><li>List of machinery\ninvolved in the manufacturing process, along with all the machinery details <\/li><li>Details of\noutsourcing of the manufacturing operations (if applicable)<\/li><li>Details of\ntesting equipment and facilities <\/li><li>Copies of all the\nvalid calibration certificates of testing equipment involved <\/li><li>Third-party lab\ntest report, as per BIS (If applicable) <\/li><li>Details and\nlayout of factory location and factory premises <\/li><li>Test report\n(In-house or Independent- if applicable)<\/li><li>Authorization\nletter from the CEO, if the application is signed by an authorized signatory<\/li><li>In the case of a\nforeign manufacturer\/ applicant, details of the Indian agent and nomination\nform<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Process_to_Obtain_BIS_ISI_for_Pressure_Cooker\"><\/span>Process to Obtain\nBIS ISI for Pressure Cooker<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To\nreceive the BIS ISI for a pressure cooker, the following procedure is followed-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>A relevant\nproduct code is selected. <\/li><li>For the\nregistration of ISI mark, an online application form must be filled up. There\nare certain documents required along with the application form, which is to be\nsubmitted. <\/li><li>A BIS officer is\nauthorized for the inspection and completes a survey of the manufacturing\npremise. <\/li><li>The samples are\nsubmitted by the BIS officer after the inspection and survey.<\/li><li>A performance\nreview report is prepared after the lab test<\/li><li>The license is\ngranted by BIS if the product stands up to all the standard requirements by\nBIS.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span>Conclusion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to sell a product in India, it is required to prove that the product is safe and does not compromise the quality and standards.
