In India, <strong><em>Press and Books Regulation Act \u2013 1867<\/em><\/strong><sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Registrar_of_Newspapers_for_India\"><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/sup> regulates the publication of newspapers and periodicals and books; under this Act, an office for Registrar of newspapers which is a statutory body created by amending the Press and Registration of Books (PRB) Act 1867. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Non\u2013Statutory\nFunctions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Certifying\nand Assessing the essential needs and requirements of newspaper establishments\nto import printing and composing machinery and allied materials.<\/li><li>Forming\nguidelines and newsprint policy and issuance of Eligibility Certificate to the\nnewspapers.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Benefits_of_RNI_Revised_Registration\"><\/span>Benefits\nof RNI Revised Registration <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are significant benefits\nassociated with the RNI Registration, which are as follows: &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong><em>Proper Compliance:<\/em><\/strong> &nbsp;Any registered entity or company in the business of a magazine, publication of a newspaper, etc., has to comply with the Press and Registration of Books Act and the rules made there.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong><em>Protection of the Title:<\/em><\/strong> RNI Registration the publishing company or any publisher will get the protection of title because the protection of title is essential in the publishing sector.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong><em>Protection against 3rd Party Claim:<\/em> &nbsp;<\/strong>Apart from protection to the title and ownership, the register published would also enjoy protection against any false third-party claims. Any form of copyright issue is also protected under this form of registration.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Recognition:&nbsp; <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/rni-registration\"><strong>RNI Registration<\/strong><\/a> secures some form of recognition of the registered company or entity in the business of newspaper and publication in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Documents_Required_for_RNI_Revised_Registration\"><\/span>Documents\nRequired for RNI Revised Registration<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The following are documents\nrequired for the RNI Revised Registration<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>New Declaration filed by the publisher\/printer before the District Magistrate in (Form I).<\/li><li>Original Registration certificate issued by RNI.<\/li><li>An affidavit duly notarized in the case where the original certificate had been misplaced\/lost along with IPO of Rs.5\/-<\/li><li>A copy of the latest issue of the periodical\/ newspaper<\/li><li>A written agreement between the keeper of printing press and publisher of newspaper and.<\/li><li>An authorization in writing from the owner(s) authorizing publisher\/printer (by name) to make and subscribe declaration under provisions of PRB Act, 1867 (Required only in the case where the publisher\/printer is not the owner thereof).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Process_of_RNI_Revised_Registration\"><\/span>Process of RNI Revised Registration<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The following is the step-by-step\nprocess for the RNI Revised Registration (Change in details of registered new\npaper and change in ownership). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The process of transfer\/change in\nthe ownership of a registered newspaper requires an affidavit for the transfer\nof ownership before the district magistrate to be executed; along with that,\nall other relevant documents are required to be submitted to the Registrar of\nNewspapers which are mentioned above in Documents Required for RNI Revised Registration&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Steps involved in getting a Duplicate\nRNI Revised Registration.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>A\nnotarized affidavit for loss of original certificate of registration. <\/li><li>An\nIPO of Rs.5\/- <\/li><li>A\ncopy of the authenticated declaration on the basis of which the\nnewspaper\/periodical got registered. <\/li><li>The\npenalty of 1000.00 per year against RNI, in the form of a demand draft in\nfavour of DDO, against non Submission of annual statements is compulsory.\n(Submission of annual statements to RNI is mandatory under section 19D of PRB\nAct, 1867).<\/li><li>A\ncopy of the latest issue.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Process_for_the_New_Registration_of_RNI\"><\/span>Process for the New Registration of RNI<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The following is\na step-by-step process for the New Registration of RNI, which has been\nelaboratively discussed below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>STEP 1. Verification of the title:<\/strong>An application is needed to be produced\nfor title conformation, containing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>The\nnewspaper name<\/li><li>The\nowner name <\/li><li>Periodicity<\/li><li>The\nproposed area of the magazine.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>STEP 2. Authenticated of Declaration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Once\nthe title confirmation letter from RNI is acquired, it has to be presented to\nthe authority concerned in addition to appropriately filled up declaration FORM\n\u2013 I for verification.<\/li><li>In\ncase the publisher and publisher are different people, a different declaration\nfrom both publisher and printer is needed.&nbsp;&nbsp;\n&nbsp;<\/li><li>&nbsp;If the place of printing press and publication\npress are in different districts, then separate declarations are needed from\nboth districts.<\/li><li>The\npublisher should file a declaration from the district of the place of\npublication, and the printer should file a declaration from the district of the\nprinting press.<\/li><li>The\npublisher should file a declaration from the district of the place of the\nprinter, and the publication must file a declaration from the district of the\nprinting press.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>STEP 3.
