The Ministry of Electronics and Information\nTechnology&#8217;s, CRS mark on products represent these standards and require\nmandatory certification of many electronic products that foreign firms import.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Compulsory_Registration_Scheme_CRS_%E2%80%93_Meaning\"><\/span>Compulsory\nRegistration Scheme (CRS) &#8211; Meaning<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2012, the Department\nof Electronics and Information Technology announced the compulsory Registration\nScheme (CRS) in collaboration with the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>03 October 2012, the\nMinistry of Electronics &amp; Information Technology (erstwhile DeitY) issued a\nnotice entitled &#8220;Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement\nfor Compulsory Registration) Order, 2012&#8221; for fifteen categories of electronic\nitems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other product categories\nwere added during the subsequent years, which include fifteen types of products\nin 2014(by MeitY), Indian Standard for Indian phone&#8217;s Language and Support&#8217; in\nOctober 2016, thirteen items in 2017, and five more added by the Ministry of\nNew and Renewable Energy (MNRE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Products that are notified to be placed under the Compulsory Registration Orders by the Government of India are required to be registered under the CRS and get the CRS mark on products. It is based on the Self Declaration of Conformity. Manufacturers of these products must apply for <a href=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/bis-crs-registration\"><strong>BIS CRS registration<\/strong><\/a> after having their product tested by any BIS-approved laboratories in India.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Orders,\nno one is permitted to make or store items for sale or distribute goods that do\nnot satisfy the Indian standard as specified in the Order and do not carry the\nStandard Mark with the unique registration number obtained by the BIS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Who_is_eligible_to_apply_for_CRS_Mark_on_Products\"><\/span>Who\nis eligible to apply for CRS Mark on Products?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Manufacturing of any product that falls within the scope of the Compulsory Register Order (CRO) notified by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology or <strong>Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE<\/strong><sup><a href=\"https:\/\/mnre.gov.in\/\"><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/sup><strong>).<\/strong><\/li><li>The manufacturer of one or more of the 30 products mentioned in the Order of compulsory registration located in India or outside India can make an application for registration through mandatory registration.<\/li><li>Manufacturers need to request a separate registration number for their products produced in different locations.<\/li><li>Manufacturers must request a different identification number per brand manufactured at the same time.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Who_grants_a_license_for_CRS_Mark_on_Products\"><\/span>Who\ngrants a license for CRS Mark on Products?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bureau of Indian\nStandards (BIS) permits manufacturers to use the Standard Mark with a unique\nR-number through registration based on self-declaration of conformity for the\nproducts and articles according to Indian Standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The granting of licenses\nand its execution under the Compulsory Registration Scheme is executed\nfollowing the conformity assessment scheme in Scheme &#8211; II of Schedule &#8211; II of\nSchedule &#8211; II of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Procedure_for_obtaining_a_registration_for_CRS_mark_on_products\"><\/span>Procedure\nfor obtaining a registration for CRS mark on products<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Below mentioned steps are\nrequired for obtaining a registration for CRS mark on products-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The profile of the manufacturer will be created on\n     BIS&#8217;s portal.<\/li><li>The Test Report Format will be created for the BIS\n     accredited laboratory.<\/li><li>After the TRF is generated, the lab will then submit\n     the report to the client&#8217;s profile on the BIS portal.<\/li><li>According to Form A or B, foreign applicants must\n     nominate an authorized Indian representative (AIR) and submit an affidavit\n     confirming the undertaking. In addition, Indian applicants must submit an\n     affidavit of undertaking as per format C.<\/li><li>Additionally, the online form must be filled with the\n     requisite documents and fees.<\/li><li>The CRS certificate will be granted based on testing,\n     not a factory visit. Therefore, CRS certification will be given if the\n     product follows CRS requirements.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Validity_of_CRS_Mark_on_Product\"><\/span>Validity\nof CRS Mark on Product<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once <a href=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/bis-registration\"><strong>BIS registration<\/strong><\/a> is granted, CRS Standard Mark is to be marked on the products and packaging.
