<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dealer refers to an individual who sells\nand receives lead-acid batteries and their components thereof to and from the\nend-users or other retailers or dealers on behalf of the Producers, importers,\nassemblers, &amp; reconditioners or otherwise;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Battery_Dealer_Responsibilities_under_Batteries_Management_and_Handling_Rules_2001\"><\/span>Battery Dealer Responsibilities under Batteries (Management and Handling)\nRules, 2001<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Every battery dealer must collect the used batteries as per the Schedule for new batteries sold.<\/li><li>Every battery dealer is liable to offer an apt discount for every utilized battery returned by the end-users.<\/li><li>During the collection process, a dealer needs to confirm that type and specification of used batteries match the type and specification of new batteries sold.<\/li><li>Every battery dealer is liable to file a half-yearly return about the sale of new batteries and buy-back of old batteries to the producer via form V by 31st May and 30th Nov every year.<\/li><li>Every battery dealer is liable to ensure apt and safe transportation of collected batteries to authorized collection facilities or to the <a href=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/registration-for-lead-acid-battery-recycling\"><strong>registered battery recyclers<\/strong><\/a>;<\/li><li>Every battery dealer is obligated to ensure that the storage and transportation of used batteries do not pose any hazard to the environment and human life.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Registration_related_compliances_for_battery_dealers_under_Battery_management_rules\"><\/span>Registration related compliances for battery dealers under Battery\nmanagement rules<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Every battery dealer is obligated to\nregister with the concerned state authority via Form IV. The general details to\nbe cited in Form IV include;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Dealer&#8217;s\nname,<\/li><li>Address,<\/li><li>Contact\ndetails,<\/li><li>TIN\/VAT\nnumber<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The applicant filing can be done via the\nofficial portal of the state authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Norms_around_return_filing_for_the_collection_of_used_batteries_and_sale_of_new_batteries\"><\/span>Norms around return filing for the collection of used batteries and sale of\nnew batteries<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Every battery dealer is obligated to file\na half-yearly return for the sale of new batteries and collection of old\nbatteries to the producer via form V by 31st May and 30th Nov every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The information to be cited in Form V\nincludes;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Dealer&#8217;s name and address<\/li><li>Authorized person name and address with contact details<\/li><li>Number of new batteries sold out during the period Oct-March\/April-Sep in respect of the given categories;<\/li><li><strong><em>Automotive<\/em><\/strong><sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Automotive_industry\"><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/sup><strong><em> :<\/em><\/strong> (a) Four Wheeler (b) Two Wheeler<\/li><li><strong><em>Industrial<\/em><\/strong>: (a) UPS (b) Motive power (c) Stand-by<\/li><li><strong><em>Others<\/em><\/strong>: No. of batteries sold (i) As replacement of utilized Batteries (ii) to bulk customers (iii) to OEM (iv) to any other party<\/li><li>Net used batteries of different categories as at SI.No. 3 accumulated and channelized to authorized producers\/collection units\/recyclers.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As an attachment to form V, the applicant\nis also required to submit the list of recyclers to whom the batteries have\nbeen channelized for recycling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span>Conclusion <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is evident that the Batteries (Management and Handling) Rules, 2001 underpin a long list of obligations for the battery dealers in India. The rules also sought record management so that the governing authority could keep the proper tab on the batteries&#8217; supply chain.
