To encourage greater participation of the educations institutions, The commerce and Industry Minister have reduced the application fee by an 80% fee cut for all recognized education institutions applying for <a href=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/patent-registration\"><strong>patent registration<\/strong><\/a> under the Patents (Amendment) Rules, 2021, which came into effect on 21st September 2021.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative taken by\nthe government is not for the first time. The patent rule has been amended\nseveral times in previous years. The objective behind the amendment was to\nremove the procedural irregularity. But now, it is facilitated to\nall recognized educational institutions applying for Patents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Here, all recognized educational institutions include\nUniversities, Colleges, and schools.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now, the total fee for filing publication and renewal for an\ninstitute has been reduced from approx. <strong><em>Rs 4,24,500 to Rs 85,000.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After this amendment, more universities will participate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This will improvise India&#8217;s ranking in the Global Innovation\nIndex from 48 to among the top 25.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Duration of Patent application is now less as compared to\nearlier duration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span>Conclusion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative for 80% fee cut for all recognized education institution for patent application was taken by the Commerce and Industry Department to foster innovation in India.
