It should be in accordance with the Schedule Q of Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules laid down by <strong>CDCSO<\/strong><sup><a href=\"https:\/\/cdsco.gov.in\/opencms\/opencms\/en\/Home\/\"><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/sup> &amp; as amended from time to time.&nbsp;The rest of the ingredients in such items must comply with the norms of IS 4707 (Part 2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rule 134 of Drugs and Cosmetics Rules impose a prohibition on the\nuse of cosmetic items containing colours, dyes, &amp; pigments other than those\ncited by the BIS (IS 4707 Part 1 as amended) as well as Schedule Q.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the purview of Rule 145 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, the use\nof heavy metals, including lead &amp; arsenic compounds in cosmetics items for\ncolouring, is not permissible. The importation of cosmetic items that contain\nlead or arsenic compounds for colouring purposes is banned under Rule 135.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The manufacturing, as well as the import of Cosmetic items containing mercury compounds, are prohibited under Rule 145 D and 135 A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_get_registered_under_BIS\"><\/span>How to get registered under BIS?&nbsp;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To avail of BIS certification, the businesses dealing with cosmetic\nmanufacturing must have the required infrastructure in place and the prescribed\nprocess control and testing capabilities for the products as per the Indian\nStandard.
