However, these figures may differ state-wise because the excise\nnorms are state-regulated.<\/li><li>If\nthe microbrewer intends to open a pub on the premise, he needs to avail a\nseparate bar license so that it can align with the established state\nregulations where he wishes to set up the brewery.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Importing\nfabrication machinery from different states attracts some excise over the\nstainless steel used. Further, the customs duty does come into play in the case\nof importing equipment from China or some European nations. In the case of Microbrewery business, the above-mentioned fees shall be at the rate of Rs 0.10\/ bulk litre expose to a minimum of Rs 30000.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HARYANA<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Haryana\nexcise department has underpinned the given provisions of microbrewery projects\nin clause 9.10 of the \u201cExcise Policy for the year 2013-14 &amp; 2014-15.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>L-10C LICENSE\nMICRO BREWERY PROJECT<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To\nadvocate healthy drinking habits of low alcoholic beverage, a licence forms\nL-10 is accorded for retail and sale of beer to be produced by Microbrewery\nProject. The license shall be conferred to L-4 license holders which deals with\n\u2018Retail vend of overseas liquor in a Restaurant\u2019 &amp; L-5 license which\nrevolves around Retail vend of overseas liquor in a bar cum restaurant\u201d on\npayment of license fee worth&nbsp;&nbsp;Rs 2,50,000.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nexcise duty shall be levied depending on the daily installed capacity, i.e. @\nat Rs 18 per Bulk Litre (BL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">KARNATAKA (came in effect in 2010)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In\n2010, Karnataka was the first state in the country to inculcate corresponding\nrules and policies. Presently the state has more than dozens of microbreweries\noperating in the Bangaluru region.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Certain\namendments have been done in the Karnataka Brewery Rules, 1967, allowing bars,\nhotels, &amp; clubs to open microbreweries. Apart from submitting a one-time\npermit fee of 2.5 lakh, such units are mandated to pay an excise duty of Rs\n17.5\/litre. The excise department levied a tax on&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nexcise department levied a tax on 50% of the installed capacity @ Rs 5\/bulk\nlitre. The Rules also clarify that the mini. space between the ceiling &amp;\nfloor of the microbrewery unit should be 14 ft.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MAHARASHTRA<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For\na microbrewery producing up to 2 lacs litre of beer\/year, a license in Form BRL\nwill be conferred. The BRL license holder producing beer up to 2 lacs\nlitre\/year in a microbrewery will be permitted to sell the beer produced in an\nunpackaged form in the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conditions_set_out_by_the_State_Excise_Department_for_Microbreweries\"><\/span>Conditions set out by the State Excise Department for\nMicrobreweries&nbsp;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The\nlicense shall observe norms as underpinned by the State Government or order\npassed by the Excise Commissioner from time to time pertaining to the\nproduction, possession, &amp; Serving<\/li><li>The\nlicense holder must abide by the order passed by the State Government or Excise\ncommissioner related to the manufacturing and quality of beer being produced at\nthe unit.<\/li><li>The\nlicensee can only use an Excise-approved thermometer and saccharometer for the\ntesting of gravity of warts.&nbsp;<\/li><li>A\ncertified hydrometer (approved by the Excise commissioner) shall be used by\nthese breweries to test the drought beer\u2019s strength.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The\nalcohol content has been maxed out at 8% v\/v for beer production.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The\nmicrobrewery units must record the temperature, pH, &amp; gravities of the\nbrews up to the maturation stage. The authority can make some legal checks\nregarding the same during their surprise visit.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The\nbrewing unit and the serving area must adhere to utmost hygiene and proper\nventilation.<\/li><li>The\nentire brewing area, including storage vicinity, should be fumigated on the set\nperiod.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The\nlicensee should conduct periodic fumigation of the brewing area and the storage\nvicinity. The record for the same should be maintained without a lag.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Serving\nbeers to an under-aged person is a punishable offence&nbsp;<\/li><li>The\nserving timing of the beers should not deviated from the recommended timeline,\ni.e. 10 AM to 11:30 PM&nbsp;<\/li><li>The\nunits are liable to maintain legit documents pertaining to the manufacturing\nand selling of beers.
