These labs include all NABL certified labs, including those owned by the FSSAI notified laboratories, FBOs, state\/central government, private sector, etc.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from these, a group of food testing labs predominately test raw materials and finished goods. These labs do not have a larger facility, unlike the one mentioned above. When a sample is drawn from\nan open container, the individual drawing the sample should draw another sample\nfrom a container without hampering its original condition bearing the same\ndetail &amp; share the same with the food analyst.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: Making payment for a sample&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nFood Safety Officer shall pay the sample cost to the concerned individual from\nwhom the sample was collected. The cost must be computed at the rate at which\nthe food item is sold to the public.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4: Packing of Sample<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nsample food item for testing should be taken in clean and properly sealed jars\nor containers to prevent the entrance of moisture. However, this condition is\nnot applied to packaged food items.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 5: Attaching proper labelling to the sample&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nsample should have proper labelling, with the following information in\nplace.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Sample code<\/li><li>Name of the individual along with the official designation<\/li><li>Date &amp; place of the sample collection<\/li><li>Nature of the food item that has been sent for testing<\/li><li>Nature &amp; quantity of the preservative present in the sample.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 6: Sealing of package<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nfood sample ought to be divided into four parts &amp; each part ought to be\nsealed and packaged via strong paper. The ends of the packaging material should\nbe folded &amp; affixed. Moreover, paper slips that covered the entire\nperimeter of the container, enclosing the signature of the designated officer,\nmust be affixed on the wrapper.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nsignature of the individual from whom the sample has been secured should be\naffixed in a way that both the paper slip &amp; the wrapper entail part of the\nsignature or the thumb impression. For further protection, the sample can be\ncovered by thread. The knots of the thread must be covered via wax bearing the\nimpression of the sender\u2019s seal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 7: Dispatching the Package<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nsample is dispatched in the following manner:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The sealed jar of one part of the food sample and the memorandum in Form VI must be sent to the\u00a0Food Analyst.<\/li><li>The second &amp; the 3rd parts of the sample, along with two copies of the memorandum in Form VI, must be routed to the\u00a0Designated Officer.<\/li><li>The fourth part of the food sample, in addition to the copy of the memorandum in Form VI, should find its way to an\u00a0accredited laboratory along with a standard fee.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On\nreceipt of the sample, the certified lab would test the quality of the food\nitem and pass the final decision.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"FSSAI_norms_for_recognition_of_Food_Testing_Labs_in_India\"><\/span>FSSAI norms for recognition of Food Testing Labs in India&nbsp;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The lab conducting testing under FSSAI must have a Quality management\nsystem in place.
