The DGFT facilitates the authorization to the exporters and probes their corresponding obligations via a network of 38 regional offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"shadow1\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> Imports and Exports in India shall be &#8220;Free&#8221; except when regulated via &#8216;restriction,&#8217; &#8216;prohibition&#8217; or &#8216;exclusive trading via State Trading Enterprises&#8217; &#8216;as mentioned under the Indian Trade Classification (Harmonized System) of Exports &amp; Imports. However,\none can import such items after availing permission from the&nbsp;state animal\nhusbandry department.&nbsp;After getting permission from the said department,\nthe applicant can visit DGFT and file an application for the importation of the\nsame.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While filling up the form, the\napplicant must attach the approval letter&nbsp;and other documents. Upon\nsubmission of the application, DGFT will grant the license for the importation\nof restricted items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Importation of Horses for Sportsmen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A horse for sportsmen is not an\nimportable item as per the DGFT&#8217;s policy. But one can import it after taking\nthe Recommendation from the Equestrian federation. This government-driven institution\nplays a vital role in authorizing the import of horses for sports person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After availing permission from\nthe said authority, the applicant must file an application for the importation\nof restricted items in DGFT. It is worth mentioning that this application will\ngo along with the approval letter&#8217;s copy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Importation of Live Animals for R&amp;D Purposes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The import of live animals for\nR&amp;D purposes requires adequate certificates for their research &amp;\ndevelopment facility. The R&amp;D facility must have sufficient resources in\nplace to conduct seamless testing and research. After obtaining this\ncertification, the application can be made to the DGFT to import the said\nitems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Importation of Tyre Scrap\/ Lead Scrap\/Battery Scrap<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Tyre Scrap\/ Lead Scrap\/ Battery Scrap are potentially Hazardous for human health as per the Hazardous Waste Management rules. The importation of such items is not being possible without the approval of the <em><strong>Ministry of Environment Forest &amp; Climate Change<\/strong><\/em><sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ministry_of_Environment,_Forest_and_Climate_Change\"><em><strong>[1]<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/sup>. Inevitably, after getting this approval, the importer must-visit DGFT in order to avail the import permission.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Import of Slag in India<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Slag refers to a by-product of\nmolted metal, and it is widely used as a raw material in many processes. Slag\nis potentially hazardous and comes under the category of restricted items as\nper the DGFT&#8217;s policy. One has to avail the permission from State Pollution\nControl Board to import slag in India from overseas countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Importation of Ozone Depleting Substance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As the name suggests,\nOzone-depleting substances are harmful to the ozone layer. DGFT will not\napprove the request for importing such items until the applicant avails\npermission from the concerned ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Importation of Wild Animals under Animal Exchange Programme<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>DGFT&#8217;s approval is not\nsufficient for the importation of wild animals. To serve such a purpose, the\napplicant must approach&nbsp;the central zoo authority&nbsp;and avail the\npermission for the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Import of Arms and Ammunition in India<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Arms dealer license and\nend-user certificate&nbsp;from the concerned department are the two basic\nrequirements for importing the arms and ammunition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Import of Aircraft\/ Hot Air Balloons\/ Helicopter \/UAVs\/\nCommunication Devices<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The import of\naircraft\/helicopter etc, seeks approval from the Directorate General of Civil\nAviation. Wireless Planning Commission (WPA) department will render import\npermission for the wireless products such as Transmitter and communication\ndevices etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Import of Refurbished Electronic Item<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>BIS registration\ncertificate&nbsp;or an&nbsp;exemption certificate&nbsp;issued by the Ministry\nof Electronics &amp; Information Technology is essential for the import of the\nRefurbished electronic item in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Import of Silver &amp; Gold Dore<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Gold Dore &amp; Silver Dore\nrefers to semi-pure alloys comprised of 50-70 % of gold &amp; silver, respectively.\nThe import of gold dore seeks NABL, BIS, and pollution certification along with\nthe DGFT&#8217;s permission. Meanwhile, to import the silver dore, the applicant has\nto avail from the state pollution control board in writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Fee_required_for_the_Importation_of_the_Restricted_Items\"><\/span>Fee required for the Importation of the Restricted Items<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One per thousand or part\nthereof subject to a min. of INR 500 and max. of Rs 1 lakh on permission\/ CIF\nvalue\/ license\/ duty saved amount of authorization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span>Conclusion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In our country, the Export-Import (EXIM) Policy and Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act of 1992 governs the import-export activities.
