In scientific terms, battery\nrefers to the device that comprises the electrochemical cells with external\nconnections that generate power for electrical appliances such as mobiles,\nflashlights, smart devices, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In common usage, the\nbattery provides power to the clock, Television remotes, torch, etc. Firms and\nbusiness units use batteries to fuel cars and smart devices. The importation of\nthe battery cannot be possible in a conventional way as one has to obtain a\nlicense for the same and comply with plenty of regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In &#8220;Batteries\nRegistration and Management System (BRMS),&#8221; importer can file an online\napplication to obtain a new battery import license. However, such an individual must address the original certification issue by MoEF &amp; CC in addition to the application.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_the_Procedure_for_Renewing_of_Battery_Import_License\"><\/span>What is the Procedure for Renewing of Battery Import License?\n<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Importers of new lead-acid batteries can follow the below instructions for the grant of renewal of registration.<\/li><li>There is no need to furnish a physical copy of the application for registration renewal.<\/li><li>The applicant shall submit the form for renewal at the official portal of BRMS portal. Such form can be furnished within 45 days a physical copy of the application.<\/li><li>Application for renewal will be processed online within seven days subject to an inspection of the followings;<\/li><li>The importer has furnished Half Yearly Returns at the BRMS portal without any lag or submitted hard copies to <strong>SPCB (<\/strong>State Pollution Control Board)<strong> and CPCB (<\/strong>Central Pollution Control Board)<strong>.<\/strong><\/li><li>In case returns were furnished to SPCB, self-certified copies of such returns will be considered.<\/li><li>If there is any default on HYR filing or file returns at the time of application renewal, the applicant may be permitted to file past returns after providing an undertaking on an affidavit. One year validity will be accorded to renewed license. After the expiration of this time period, the applicant cannot restore it again.<\/li><li>In charge HWM Division will grant the renewal of registration to importers of new lead-acid batteries.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-left\"><b>Read our article<\/b>:<mark style=\"background: #fffd03 !important\"><a href=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/learning\/how-import-license-and-iec-certification-differs-from-each-others\/\">How Import License and IEC Certification Differs From Each Others? <\/a><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Cancellation_or_Suspension_of_Registration_of_Battery_Import_License\"><\/span>Cancellation or Suspension of Registration of Battery\nImport License<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the light of Rule 5\nfor the Batteries Rules, 2001, the cancellation or suspension of registration\nwill come to an effect in the state of;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Non-submission\nof timely half-yearly returns to SPCB*<\/li><li>Non-submission\nof copy endorsed to CPCB.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_will_Authority_React_to_Non-Submission_of_HYR_over_A_Timeline_of_1_Year\"><\/span>How will Authority React to Non-Submission of HYR over A\nTimeline of 1 Year?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>CPCB\nmay communicate with the applicant via notice regarding the non-compliance and\ngive his\/her chance to file returns within 45 days,<\/li><li>In\ncase of nil response by the importer, a chance for hearing will be accorded\nwith a notice period of 30 days.<\/li><li>Further,\nif the importer continues to remain unresponsive on such a matter, the\nregistration shall confront cancellation as a form of penalty.<\/li><li>Member\nSecretary is the one who approves cancellation of such registrations. Following\nwhich, in-charge, HWMD shall issue letters for the same.<\/li><li>In-charge\nHWM Division shall be responsible for issuing a notice regarding the Notice for\ncancellation or suspension. The same can be issue online via the BRMS\napplication.<\/li><li>If\nnotice issues remain undelivered &amp; are returned by the postal department,\nthe registration, in such cases, shall be suspended &amp; uploaded on the BRMS\napplication.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Re-Activation_of_Suspended_or_Cancelled_Battery_Import_License\"><\/span>Re-Activation of Suspended or Cancelled Battery Import\nLicense<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Re-activation of Cancelled or suspended registration within or after the validity period may be considered in the following cases;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The\nimporter may furnish an undertaking ensuring timely submission- but the\nvalidity of one year will be granted to such renewal.<\/li><li>Further,\nin case of violation during such validity period, no further renewal may be\nconsidered.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Re-activation\nof such registration seeks the approval of the Member Secretary. After being\napproved, a letter for re-activation of registration will be granted by\nin-charge HWMD.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Documents_are_required_For_Import_Battery_License\"><\/span>What Documents are required For Import Battery License? <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Documents required for import Battery license in India are as follows:-<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>PAN\nCard<\/li><li>IEC\nCertificate*<\/li><li>Half\nYearly Returns<\/li><li>Industrial\nlicense, if required.<\/li><li>BIS\ncertification*<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">BIS Certification*<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/bis-registration\"><strong>BIS Certification<\/strong><\/a> gives assurance about the product&#8217;s quality and safety. Though this certificate is voluntary, it is mandatory for a specific category of products that affect human life in one way or another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">IEC Certificate*<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The term IEC stands for\nImport Export Certificate, and it is issued by the Directorate General of\nForeign Trade (aka DGFT). This registration is mandatory for cross-border\ntransactions of commodities. IEC certificate is a ten-digit identification\nnumber that serves as a registration number for the importer and the exporter.\nOne can visit the DGFT official portal to drop the application for obtaining\nthe new IEC certificate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span>Conclusion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Batteries are available\nin various forms depending on the usage.
