{"id":15631,"date":"2020-09-01T15:24:40","date_gmt":"2020-09-01T09:54:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/learning\/?p=15631"},"modified":"2020-09-01T15:24:42","modified_gmt":"2020-09-01T09:54:42","slug":"covid-19-standard-operating-procedure-sop-for-msmes-at-workplace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/learning\/covid-19-standard-operating-procedure-sop-for-msmes-at-workplace\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 (SOP) Standard Operating Procedure for MSMEs at workplace"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">The Government, Ministry of MSME, has come out with COVID-19 <strong><em>Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for MSMEs at the workplace<\/em><\/strong> for <a href=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/msme-registration\"><strong>registered MSMEs<\/strong><\/a>. These guidelines are issued for small enterprises to prevent transmission of the coronavirus among employees and workers. The SOP for MSMEs applies to the current COVID-19 pandemic phase in India (local transmission and limited community transmission), wherein, as per the plan of action, all suspect cases are admitted to isolation facilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These procedures are meant to guide and support program\nofficers in monitoring functionality and infection prevention protocols for\nCOVID19 patients. In humans, the transmission of COVID-19 can occur through\nrespiratory droplets (through droplets from coughing or sneezing) or indirectly\n(by contaminated objects or surfaces). Most people at risk of COVID-19\ninfection are in close contact with a suspect\/confirmed COVID-19 patient and\nthose who care for such patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for MSMEs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>The following are the guidelines issued by the Ministry of MSMEs for the protection of the workers at the workplace are as below:- <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"647\" height=\"386\" src=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/image.png\" alt=\"Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for MSMEs\" class=\"wp-image-15632\" srcset=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/image.png 647w, https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/image-300x179.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 647px) 100vw, 647px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"text-left\"><b>Read our article<\/b>:<mark style=\"background: #fffd03 !important;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/corpbiz.io\/learning\/champions-newly-launched-portal-for-msme\/\">CHAMPIONS: Newly Launched Portal for MSME<\/a><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cleanliness and Proper Sanitization<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The government has been <strong><em>mandated sanitizing of the workplace\npremises<\/em><\/strong>. The employers must ensure all the premises, including the\nfollowing, <strong><em>shall be disinfected thoroughly.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The disinfection of entrance gates, offices, etc<\/li><li>The cafeteria, and canteens<\/li><li>The meeting rooms, open areas available\/verandah,\nentrance gate of the site, other rooms in the building, etc. <\/li><li>Also, the employers must disinfect all equipment\nand lifts.<\/li><li>The washroom, toilet, sink, water points, walls,\nand all other surfaces<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transport Facilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The employers must provide a transportation\nfacility for the workers coming from outside. The <strong><em>special transportation facility<\/em><\/strong>\nmust be arranged without any dependency on the public transport system. Therefore,\nworkers do not have to depend on public transport. <\/li><li>The vehicles must be <strong><em>allowed to work with 30 to 40% of\ncapacity<\/em><\/strong>. Besides, all vehicles and machinery entering the premises\nmust be disinfected by spray mandatorily.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Workplace Measures <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The employers must provide a mandate facility\nfor <strong><em>touch-free\nhand wash and sanitization<\/em><\/strong> at all common areas, entry, and exit points.\nSufficient quantities of all the items must be available for the employees. <\/li><li>Also, the workplace&#8217;s entrance and exit and the\npremises must be strictly following <strong><em>thermal screening<\/em><\/strong> for everyone. <\/li><li>There has to ban on chewing of Gutka, Tobacco,\nand <strong><em>spiting\nshall be strictly prohibited.<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Social Distancing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The workplaces must have a <strong><em>1-hour gap<\/em><\/strong> between\nshifts. The lunch break must also take place in a staggered manner, ensuring\nthe norms of social distancing. <\/li><li>Workers have to sit <strong><em>at least 6 feet away from each\nother<\/em><\/strong> on job sites and in official gatherings, meetings, or training\nsessions. The employers must also discourage gatherings of 10 or more people at\na time.&nbsp; <\/li><li>The employers have to ensure that <strong><em>not\nmore than 2\/4 persons are allowed using lift<\/em><\/strong> altogether (depending on\nthe size of lifts). <\/li><li>The employer has to encourage the use of the\nstaircase. Also, visit of <strong><em>non-essential visitors must be banned\nentirely. <\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Medical Facilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The employers must ensure that all their workers medically insured. <strong><em>Medical insurance<\/em><\/strong><sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Insurance\"><strong><em>[1]<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/sup><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong>must be made compulsory to all workers. <\/li><li>Hospitals\/clinics in the nearby areas, specially authorized <strong><em>to<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>treat COVID-19 patients, should be identified,<\/em><\/strong> and a list should be available at the workplace.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Measures to protect the Workers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Workers should <strong><em>wear masks<\/em><\/strong> all the time\nat the workplace, and they must maintain at least a <strong><em>1-meter gap<\/em><\/strong> from each\nother. <\/li><li>Workers must take a <strong><em>separate lunch break<\/em><\/strong> to\navoid making contact with each other.<\/li><li>Also, they must <strong><em>wash their hands<\/em><\/strong>\nfrequently with alcohol-based sanitizers and soaps. <\/li><li>Besides, the workers and their families should\ndownload the <strong><em>\u2018Aarogya Setu\u2019<\/em><\/strong> app for protection against the coronavirus. <\/li><li>Any of the workers develop symptoms like fever,\ncough, or difficulty in breathing, or if <strong><em>he falls sick<\/em><\/strong>, it must be reported to\nthe <strong><em>nearest\nhealth center<\/em><\/strong> or the <strong><em>recognized<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>COVID hospital<\/em><\/strong> immediately.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Several top industries across automobile, pharmaceutical,\nand food processing, among other sectors, in the State, have reported COVID-19\noutbreak among their workforce. In contrast, <strong><em>the infection has affected\nworkers in micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs)<\/em><\/strong>. Hence, the\ngovernment has intervened and come up with an SOP for MSMEs. It has helped in a\nfew cases, but in a large number of cases, companies have handled the situation\non their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nearly <strong><em>2 months<\/em><\/strong> after industries were allowed to function, the unprecedented crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in problems for both employees and employers. While workers reporting to duty have been anxious over the possibility of contracting the infection at the workplace, employers are grappling with worker absenteeism.
