Exporters are mostly aware of the latest export quality standards, trade fairs, infrastructure support, trade fairs, and agro-exchange reports. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Authority replaced the Processed Food Export Promotion Council (PFEPC). It provides financial assistance, information, guidelines for the development of scheduled products. The products mentioned under the <strong>APEDA Act<\/strong> are also called schedule products, and exporters of that scheduled products are mostly required to register under APEDA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>In accordance with the (APEDA) Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act, 1985, the functions have been assigned to the Authority are as below. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Development of industries\nrelating to a scheduled product for export by way of providing financial\nassistance or otherwise for undertaking surveys and also feasibility studies,\nparticipation in inquiry capital through joint ventures, and other reliefs and subsidy\nschemes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Registration of persons as an\nexporter of the scheduled products on payment of such fees may be prescribed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fixing the standards and\nspecifications for the scheduled products for the purpose of exports.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carrying out inspection of meat and\nthe products of meat in slaughterhouses, storage premises, processing plants,\nconveyances, or any other places where such products are kept or handled to\nensure the quality of such products.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improving the packaging of the\nScheduled products.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improving marketing of the Scheduled\nproducts outside India.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promotion of the export-oriented\nproduction and the development of a Scheduled product.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collection of a statistics from\nthe owners of factories or establishments engaged in the production, packaging,\nprocessing, marketing or export of a scheduled product or from such other\npersons as prescribed on any matter relating to a scheduled product and\npublication of the statistics so collected or of any portions thereof or\nextracts therefrom.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Training in all aspects of the\nindustries connected with the scheduled products.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Such any other matters as may be\nprescribed under the Act.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Products_under_the_APEDA_Act\"><\/span>Products under the APEDA Act<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>APEDA is mandatory with the responsibility of export respect to the export of scheduled products, <strong>APEDA registration<\/strong> is necessary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exporters must avail of the various financial assistance schemes under the APEDA.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It helps the exporters in brand publicity through advertisement, database up-grading, packaging development, surveys, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provides guidelines to the exporters about the various&nbsp; products and countries for export<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Registered members can also participate in training programs organized by APEDA for various scheduled products and thereby improve their business.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In addition to this, APEDA registration has been entrusted with the responsibility to monitor the import of sugar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Composition_of_the_APEDA_Authority\"><\/span>Composition of the APEDA Authority<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>As specified by the statute, the APEDA Authority consists of the following members, namely:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>A Chairman as appointed by a Central Government<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Agricultural Marketing Advisor to a Government of India, ex-official.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>1 member<\/em><\/strong> as appointed by a Central Government representing the Planning Commission<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>3 members<\/em><\/strong> of Parliament of whom two are elected by the House of People and one by the Council of States<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>8 members<\/em><\/strong> appointed by the Central Government representing respectively, the Ministries of the Central Government<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Agriculture and Rural Development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commerce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Industry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a Research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>National Horticultural Board<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Central Food Technological Research Institute<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Indian Institute of Packaging<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spices Export Promotion Council<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cashew Export Promotion Council<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>12 members<\/em><\/strong> as appointed by a Central Government representing:-<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Fruit and Vegetable Products Industries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meat, Poultry and Dairy Products Industries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other Scheduled Products Industries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Packaging Industry<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>2 members<\/em><\/strong> as appointed by a Central Government from amongst specialists and scientists in the fields of agriculture, marketing, and economics of the scheduled products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span achieve these; various functions must been undertaken by this body under the\nregulation of the central government. Central government lays down the rules\n&amp; regulations through this body for the efficient administration of APEDA\nAct.
